Short Scenes: Pygmalion Computer Graphics Project

#601

maronson: I emailed you the finished facial rig. Let me know if it’s good, or what you’d like fixed, yada yada yada.

I’m up for helping out with whatever, and wherever you need me. I actually have a decent amount of experience with smoke & fire particle effects and the like.

Cloth should be an interesting endeavor. I have a feeling this project is going to cost me lots of money in the instructional book department  haha. Awesome!

I have four machines here at my place in which you are welcome to render with. I also have and VNC setup if anyone should want to check on any of them remotely, etc. Two PC’s, two Mac’s.

What’s next? The body?

*MIKE: it was so late for me to visit the thread and i found the huge progress of the project, Congratulations! Anyway, regarding the Membership List (reply #594) proudly to say im the only Filipino involved:applause:, i saw my name listed but regarding the sofware used its different, its not Maya, instead i used 3DSMAX.:), just a correction for this.
*Thanks!! and More Power to all!!

Yo! haven’t posted in awhile…been busy in polygon hell… well I’m jumping back in for a bit and doing some retouching on the Shaw model, I believe as the original modeler came into some bad luck. Anyways send me the files mike and I’ll get started (I hope the geometry is clean, otherwise I may remodel the entire thing) I’m also going to lay out some uv’s on the mesh as well to make it a breeze to texture paint.

-Brandon

EDIT: If I do end up redoing the mesh, what type of edge loop flow would the riggers prefer? (anatomical or just main mass bending?)

#604

Can we get this straight? There are two rigged models on the FTP site. The first one, gsRigged has hair but no FK. Nottoshabi posted a second rig fix on the FTP site to fix the arms but that one has no hair. Do I have it right? Rockmanex: If Wilson 3d says yes, all you have to do is add the hair to the rigged file. If you are really kind you could also model a cigar and include it in the model.

1.8XL: I made the correction in the original file and will repost this week.

kemer2: It’s seven hours later and your e-mail hasn’t arrived. Can you put it on the FTP site? Yes, start on the body. I have e-mail from an animator who is interested in starting a shot with Covent Garden Liza.

#605

It’s there under the character folder as “K_CGK_004_FaceFinished.mb”

#606

MJO120881: Get the rigged model from the FTP site and it is “Ready?, Begin!”

#607

maronson: That is correct. 2ndrigfix has IK/FK but no hair and gsRigged has hair and no IK/FK. The other pretty big issue is that I can not for the life of me open the jaw. The rig has phenoms built in but the jaw still has to open for the lip sync to look correct.

I think it would be best if Rockmanex looked at it and gave it some thought about what he can do to it overall(if you have time Rockmanex).

If my memory is correct the Shaw aniamtion is due on December 20. This is correct right?
Take Care.

#608

Ok guys I finished rigging the head and jaw of the Garden_Liza. Can you please post the link to the upload site?

#609

I’m confused. I just rigged the jaw for Liza. Are nottoshabi and I doing the same work? Perhaps I should work on something else?

#610

Mike: Sure I can do the beer glass. I am only 19 but that is the drinking age her in canada lol. :buttrock: I would also like to take that attempt at animating the hand. sounds like fun just gimme the files I need and I will be on my way.

#611

kemer2> Did we? The facial system needs work.

#612

Yeah, we def did. Oops. What do you mean it needs work?

#613

Well a lot of other parts of the face moves when you pull some controlers. I dont have the file open right now, but if you play with the mouth yiou will see that on some places the face moves with the mouth. It needs a little bit of love and tendernes.

#614

kemer2: nottoshabi is the Project’s Maintenance Rigger. If I need one thing done in a hurry and he has time he does the work. Matt asked for a Jaw rotation two weeks ago and nottoshabi tried to work on it and had trouble with access to the FTP site. He told me to give it to someone else if they came along. I still needed a body rig when you answered so I started you with her head and then go on to the body rig. So sure enough you both did the work about the same time.

nottoshabi: I’m at work so I don’t have your account information here. But it hasn’t changed if you can find the original e-mail. If your FTP program remembers user names and passwords the site is:
ftp.pygmalion2006.org

nottoshabi & kemer2,
There is slight movement down by the corner of Liza’s mouth when you manipulate other parts of her face. This is due to some blendshapes getting tweaked wrong somehow. Before I turned the facial rig in, I tried to correct this as much as possible by tweaking verts. I couldn’t get it perfect, but I thought it might be good enough, especially since her close up shots will be having lip sync anyway and not just an eyebrow move that would tweak a mouth vert a little. but if you did want to fix it you’d have to go back and tweak verts on the blendshapes.

#616

Here is what I suggest in the interest of time. nottoshabi gives MJO120881 some specific advice how to improve the facial rig and Matt does that work. MJO120881 (soon to be known as Birthday Boy Matt) has a choice of two rigs to start with. From now on Matt is the keeper of the close up model of Covent Garden Liza. kemer2 is the keeper of Long and Medium shot Covent Garden Liza. That’s only one model not two. We don’t need one for long shots and one for medium shots.

Meanwhile Wilson 3d is hanging from side of deadline cliff. The Dec 20th date was to give you 5 or 6 weeks to work without interfereing with the holidays. It makes sense for Rockmanex to add hair to the correctly rigged model since we know that change will not significantly affect animation when we make the model substitution.

Is everyone having fun?

#617

Is the file that I have the correct one? Because this is the first I’ve heard you were using seperate models for closeups vs far/med.

If I understand you correctly, I am to start working on the body rig? Using the facial system I already have? Or shall I wait on the newly touched up one?

#618

kemer2: The two models will branch from what we have now. I’m trying to establish some work in parallel. Matt can work with a model that has not very much of a Body Rig and do fine. Liza doesn’t walk in his shot. Matt will chose which one he wants. Both you and nottoshabi started from the same file. You should continue on with the model you have and do a body rig on it. If we notice minor facial distortions in a medium shot we will repair it then. The long shots will not be a problem.

#619

Sounds good Mike. Ok Kermer2, form what I seen everything you have done with clusters is what is messing up so try to paint the atributes of the clusters. These are the ones that to much of the facer moves with it when you manupulate them:

R_UprLipCtrl
L_UprLipCtrl
L_CornerLipCtrl
R_CornerLipCtrl
L_LwrLipCtrl
Upr_LipCtrl…

On some, the nose even moves, we definatlly dont want that. For some reason it wont let me paint the cluster attributes. On the eyes it lets me but the mouth Maya wont let me paint them for some reason. Try it on your machine if it wont work you might have to do the clusters again. Let me know how it goes. Or if you need some help with it.

Hello again everyone…new here; ) Got this guy yesterday and I have most of the basic rig layout done and working good…now it’s just time to tweek it, paint weight, and have fun with all the things i can think of to rig him up.

should have some more time later this week to finish it up and be done. here is a quick teaser of the rig
