*JAYREEF: Rent is free of charge, everybody is welcome!
Thanks:)
jayreef: The finished model should be the dark skin tone version.
Liseelulu: My plan is to concentrate on animating the Preface (Scene 1) first because it looks like all but one of the characters in that scene will be ready by Nov 18th. Your character is in that scene. The more that you do, the more likely I can finish on time. If the model is rigged it is ready to animate but does that mean I need to animate her in Lightwave? The theory so far is we have to rig in the software that we animate with. Is that correct for Lightwave? So if we can use it in animation, yes I would like you to keep having fun and rig the hands especially. She doesn’t have any on camera lines but it would be great to see her smile and react to her boyfriend’s voice.
roodroosje: The OBJ files we collected so far were low poly models but dark_jedi_1929 is right we are not making a game. The video will be projected onto two large screens. Right now I don’t know for sure what software will be used for animating your shot. I just need to be prepared to move either way.
I’ll post more from home this evening. Great work every one.
1.8XL: The stairs are held up by a curved header supported by risers in the wall. So the wall is a part of the staircase. A soffit is the exposed underside of any overhead component of a building. In this case, what you see under the staircase. To model this draw a line connecting the underside of the ends of the treads. Duplicate that line on the other side. Connect the two lines with a surface. Duplicate the surface an inch and a half away. Fill in the volume between. Another way would be to draw four construction lines and extude a rectangular bar along the guide lines. It winds up looking like a curved ramp. Can you make the white color more of an ivory or cream? We will be using white for color keying in this project. What will be behind the window? You are correct to leave out the door. The door is at the other end of the hall, behind the camera. By the time I get around to reseaching gargoyles, the project will be over. Leave them out.
roodroosje: Let the lip synch be done by the animator. I got some advice from Matt who is texturing Covent Garden Eliza. When you export an .obj file, you lose all texture information
and just have geometry information. I think he needs to save the model as .obj and save the texture files so they can be mapped later. Let’s wait until we see who will animate your scene before you do any more work. You may have more time two months from now and be able to touch up the model then while the animation is progressing.
Greendog has had a death in his family and he has resigned his position with the Project. He was working on the Englishman. Someone has volunteered to start that model in Max. He should post something soon. This means that Kenio3d’s scotsman and the Englishman will be using the same software. So we now know that shot will be animated in 3DS Max for sure.
Kenio3D: The final film is DVD Resolution, 720 x 480.
Mirabeau: The new reflections are good.
bonestructure: I have the file, thank you.
Mike, I’m sorry, I realized I was supposed to give you a much higher resolution image. If you guys are using Max, can I send the Max file and textures? That would be a lot easier for me than to export an entire scene as an obj where it would lose the background image and li8ghting info and camera info and such. I’m in Max 7
bonestructure: You can probably compress the files into an rar archive and just email them to me. Or post it someplace that I can download it.
Agent Prometheus: Can you do procedural textures on the Taximeter?
The white cylinders look like ivory. Body is painted brass. Aluminum pole and sheet steel painted For Hire flag. Map the numeral zero on the visible parts of each cylinder. Add a numeral one to the middle most cylinder above the zero so the animator can rotate the one into view. Add the text to the face and it is ready to go!
Jayreef: It’s a long dress. All you need to do is show her legs stretching the dress forward when she takes a big step.
*Thanks MIKE, ill try your tips to finiish the stair.
*Regarding the hallway, the arrangement of the furnitures are fine? Do i still have to add more? Based on the ref. photo, is it a ‘piano’ on the left side? i put console as replacement. I will still have to add some wall lamps, or maybe a candle lamp:). And how about the floor? What window are you talking about?
*ill try to post another update later changing white color to cream.
Thank you very much Mike!
I just emailed you the obj.file from the English Student. If I need to change something or touch up, you can let me know : )
roodroosje
The Max file on its own is 17 megs. The texture files are who knows how large. I exported the scene to a obj file and it came out to 51 megs. Dude, I’m on dialup lol. It’s not a problem to get em on a CD. I just don’t have any postage at the moment.
1.8XL: There seem to be a bright horizontal light at the top of the staircase. I thought that was a window. A window there would be good to light up the stairs some. We have enough furniture now, its just a hallway, but we definitely need more wall lights. Its a long hallway and we need to justify its being light inside. As a final step, make one render with a rug that matches the one in bonestructure’s view. Then we can decide which one we like better, rug or wood floor.
roodroosje: I have the files, thank you.
bonestructure: If you send me an address I can forward a small amount of expense money. (I’m serious.) All I ask people to donate is their time, not money out of pocket.
rockmanex: Thanks for looking after the thread while I was gone.
Everyone: If I appear to be quiet in the next few days, I’m still monitoring the thread. I’ll also be hunting for animators.
do we need her to have some legs, or feet i am thinking?, will they show at some point, the feet that is
Jayreef: She needs legs to push on the dress from inside but we don’t need to see her legs, the dress has no slits along the side. I don’t think we will be able to see shoes either. She can float along the ground with skirt bulges suggesting there is something inside.
*I can’t see the image posted by bonestructure:D, the site is blocked here MIKE, if you can send to me thru my email its better so that i can check:)
A few questions concerning the taximeter. First off, will it have to be textured in maya? Because I have only limited experience with texturing in maya (which isn’t really a problem, maps are maps), and I do not own maya, which can be a complication.
Also, would you like the numbers modelled on there? Or textured on?
AgentPrometheus: We can animate the taximeter separate from the taxi. It is only seen in close up. What software are you modeling in? That’s what we will use for the taximeter’s animation. In fact, if you want, since there is so little animation to do, (the flag turns down or up and the body stretches), maybe you could just do it all? Isn’t it easier to texture the numerals on? I think modeling text is unnecessary.
1.8XL: Take a look at post 171 on page 12 of this thread.
Hello All,
I’ve been a part of this thing for a while now but this is the first time I’ve posted anything. I am working on the ballroom. The images you see here are of the staircase, the windows, and the doors. I still have not textured or lit the scene or completely finished all of my modeling. I need to build light scones and chandeliers. I also plan to put a fountain at the other end of the ball room, as well as possibly two smaller fountains on either side of the staircase. Anywho, just thought I might get involved on the discussion side of this thing.
C
ps- I’m working in Maya 6 and 7. this is the first time I’ve done anything in this software I’m more accustomed to max but I wanted to try something new.
*Looks promising CJ GRAVE:thumbsup:…we’re both doing the interior scenes, surely it will look magnificient after it is textured:applause:
*a little update, furnitures are textured…the staircase and another option for flooring to be carpeted:)
