Hi guys.
Here is a small update.

I know that it is too obvious that the sides are copied, but I’ll work on it more.

for those of you who are interested.
I hope you still like it:).

Did you hand paint the cockpit? Looks great whatever you used
Now we wanna see the action version!! :wip:
Thank you SD:)
I painted maybe about 75% of the cockpit. Just some of the pipes (or what are they) in the back are from photo.
thanks again
cheers
Hi guys!
I think the cockpit is finished.

I made it wide screen and I think it helps it.
What do you think?
Comments and crits very appreciated.
Cheers and hope to hear from you.

hmmm…I love what you are doing with the cockpit, and widescreen rules…if you stay with wide format, you might want to go with a closeup shot to avoid some issues.
It looked like you had a hint of reflection in that first 4:3 shot and that made it sell better. The canopy perspective and interior glass reflections need help in this shot.
Still great work.
Thanks for the comments:)
You are right. I needed to extend that reflection pass and I made it very quickly and loosly.
In the final I think it won’t be that wide. I think about half the way between the wide screen and the non-wide screen image.
cheers
Hi everybody,
I just uploaded one of the composited cockpit videos to the server. It’s here. I think that was one of the most fun works in this movie
Also thanks you softdistortion, I remembered to put a reflection of the pilot on the compositing
Cheers
The shot looks nice!
It needs to be more contrasted, but I think it’s mainly because of the codec.

Does it look better cropped like this?
cheers
It looks like this is going to be a tense shot? Just guessing form the look on his face…a really wide shot looks nice, but will loose some tension imo.
Also, by cropping even more and you have lots of room off frame to add essential camera vibration/shake/jolts.
Hi softdistortion,
Thanks for crits, they are always welcome and you were right actually. There are four shots of the pilot. They are here (and corrected as Kutkin suggested):
1
2
3
4
So in second shot, he sees something strange and it must be a tighter shot, you are absolutely right. I will re-render it with a tighter frame. I am just not sure about fourth, in it the vehicle is going down but I think it can be a wider shot. I think I will decide on that after it’s before and after shots are done and edited.
Thanks again.
It feels like the grain is too high on the live action elements. It’s important to add some grain/depth/blur to get the elements to work together but if you think about a photograph there is usually more grain in the distance with less in the foreground. It seems to be a bit un-natural with the extreme grain in the foreground, and less in the BG.
Just my thoughts,
It looks good,

Also, consider the source of your lighting. The live action figures are lit primarially from one direction, almost as if by moonlight. The city is very bright, and almost uniformly surrounding the figures. I think that if a rimlight could be simulated on the figures, or the lights of the city brought down it would be good. THink about a big big city like New York, it’s never that dark on the top of buildings because of the insane lights of the city, and the bounce off the clouds.
Think about your lighting dude, but it does look good.
Hi John!
Thanks for your feedback.
The foreground is of very poor quality and I didn’t want to spoil also the rest of the image by all the grain.
The foreground is just for getting the idea. There is supposed to be different foreground with different lighting and I suppose there is some lightsource on the left. I can assure you that there will be a lightwrap arround the foreground - Alican has already showed me some compositing tests and it looks nice.
cheers
Hi everybody,
Our visual work is almost done and now we’ve started taking renders and making corrections and adding some absent materials etc.
Here is something I wanted to share, final building collapse.
There will be some more elements and particles added into that but you can get the idea.
Hi everyone,
We’ve finished up the movie and it will be online on September 1st. But we’ve opened up it’s web page. You can check it here:
Hi Guys,
Today, at last, we’ve put the movie online!
Now you can watch it on www.dominationthemovie.com .
I hope you like it. We’ve tried to do the best with what we got and I hope that we will do better next time
I can’t thank enough to people who collaborated on this project. It was a very special and nice time to work with all of you.
