Hey there therealdeal,
Sorry for the late answer. Are you good at particles? We’ve mostly done the modeling but we need someone for good particle effects and also someone for demolution of the modeled buildings.
What say you?

MATTE PAINTING

The Night shots
MATTE PAINTINGS
I painted all the matte paintings shown here, I also made the sunrise shot animation. The model of the flying vehicle is made by Can Tanyeli. I did only materials and lighting on it.
I hope you guys like those.

Hey guys.
I’ve been given another thing to do - the interior of cockpit of the flying vehicle.
First stage of progress here:

I hope you guys like it.
I usually don’t do things like this since I’m mainly a matte painter, but this is being great fun and new experience!
Crits and comments very welcome.
Cheers

very nice work. Keeping the style consistent I like it :-).
You’ve learned a damn lot recently.
-John
I don’t know what we would do if you weren’t working with us Pavel. You’ve brought this project lots of steps ahead.
Also very much thanks to John for introducing you to us.
Hi guys.
Here is a small update.

I know that it is too obvious that the sides are copied, but I’ll work on it more.
TEST VIDEO HERE
for those of you who are interested.
I hope you still like it:).
Cheers

Did you hand paint the cockpit? Looks great whatever you used
Now we wanna see the action version!! :wip:
Thank you SD:)
I painted maybe about 75% of the cockpit. Just some of the pipes (or what are they) in the back are from photo.
thanks again
cheers
Hi guys!
I think the cockpit is finished.

I made it wide screen and I think it helps it.
What do you think?
Comments and crits very appreciated.
Cheers and hope to hear from you.
-Pavel
hmmm…I love what you are doing with the cockpit, and widescreen rules…if you stay with wide format, you might want to go with a closeup shot to avoid some issues.
It looked like you had a hint of reflection in that first 4:3 shot and that made it sell better. The canopy perspective and interior glass reflections need help in this shot.
Still great work.
Thanks for the comments:)
You are right. I needed to extend that reflection pass and I made it very quickly and loosly.
In the final I think it won’t be that wide. I think about half the way between the wide screen and the non-wide screen image.
cheers
Hi everybody,
I just uploaded one of the composited cockpit videos to the server. It’s here. I think that was one of the most fun works in this movie
Also thanks you softdistortion, I remembered to put a reflection of the pilot on the compositing
Cheers
The shot looks nice!
It needs to be more contrasted, but I think it’s mainly because of the codec.

Does it look better cropped like this?
cheers
It looks like this is going to be a tense shot? Just guessing form the look on his face…a really wide shot looks nice, but will loose some tension imo.
Also, by cropping even more and you have lots of room off frame to add essential camera vibration/shake/jolts.
Hi softdistortion,
Thanks for crits, they are always welcome and you were right actually. There are four shots of the pilot. They are here (and corrected as Kutkin suggested):
1
2
3
4
So in second shot, he sees something strange and it must be a tighter shot, you are absolutely right. I will re-render it with a tighter frame. I am just not sure about fourth, in it the vehicle is going down but I think it can be a wider shot. I think I will decide on that after it’s before and after shots are done and edited.
Thanks again.
