I don’t know what it was, but the narrator sounded a lot like Adam West to me. Other than that, good work.

Very good work. I am extremely impressed that you were able to pull off something so long by yourself.

In regards to giving a crit- I think the narration is a nice tool, but it is just overdone. You don’t give the audience the chance to figure things out by themselves, and just basically say what happens. I think this thing would seriously be twice as good if you just cut out the narration that directly explains what is happening.

A good example of this is when they are in the graveyard. The narrator goes (im paraphrasing) “he went to go hide behind the gravestones to give his brother a fright”. If it had just been “he went to go hide behind the gravestones”, it would have been much better. People can pretty much guess what is going to happen, you don’t need to explain it, and it’s better if you don’t.

The best analogy I can give for this is the punchline for a joke. If you explain to someone why something is funny, it really isn’t funny anymore (there are obviously exceptions, but you have to know exatly why you are doing it). By not explaining so much, you can let people fill in the story by themselves, and you can get a much better audience interaction with the piece… It’s summed up by the Pixar guy who said “storytelling is not 2+2=4… It’s 2+2”

Seriously, go back and try and mentally cut off as much narration as you can without losing the story. I think you end up with a much more powerful piece.

I agree completely with Paul. I found myself just listening to it rather than watching it. You’d have better opportunities for acting without all that narration. We use this medium to visually express something, but it was a bit much.
Models are cute though, and it looks very pretty. If you get the chance to cut some of that narration, I would.

Animation needs Squash and Stretch mate.

Makes the characters look like puppets instead of people.

It’s a lovely animation, but I have to be honest; the narration ruined it for me. I would have rather seen things expressed through the medium rather than read out to me. For me, it made the story a monotone. When the brother returns from a day out, the narrator explains how angry the other sibling is and even hints at what he’s going to do next. Had this been left as say the brother returning home to find his brother glaring in the shadows, it would have pulled me in wanting to know what happens next. Likewise, some of the more difficult to demonstrate bits of the narration like the effect of the moon and stars at the beginning could have led to some intriguing and dramatic visuals.

Still, I love the design of your characters and the vibe I picked off the story reminded me of The Devil’s Backbone (which is a good thing in my book). Also bear in mind, this is just my opinion so take it all with a big bag of salt.

I´m glad to hear all those kind words from everybody so thank you all very much for the support.
A lot of people is “complaining” about the voice over and the only thing I can say is that I completely agree with them. One of the worst things of working alone for such a long time is that some times you can´t see some noticeable “mistakes” that are really evident. Probably my afraidness of the story not being understood lead me to explain too much with the voice over while it would have been better to let the images talk by themselves. Unfortunatelly it is a little bit late to go back in the film to fix that but you can take for granted that all the comments are being really helpful in my learning process. So thank you very much also for those positive critizisms, that for sure, will be present in future projects

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to watch the film and for posting here!

Best regards
