Short Film Collaboration: Discussion and Concept development

<posted in main thread>
Its not as creative as the other guy’s concept, its just a bit simpler. I doubt you guys want to keep it this simple. I figure this way if we keep our designs simple from the start we might actually accomplish something. Feel free to modify this drawing.

Sorry if I didn’t really finish it to all the detailing work you might want me to do. I just didn’t have time while I am on another project for work.

NICE ONE!!

i really think this kind of uniform is way much better for a skydiver!
the one i did was much more skateboarder kind of look with the boots an the tshirt…
i really also dig for the mask thing…u can clearly see big eyes which are expressive…
the other design had big eyes but through refraction of the glass and the eyes being more stylized with no white at all are more difficult to create emotions…

For all those of you who want to experience design, I suggest starting off with silouettes. don’t focus on detail, just shape

I am turning into taron with the posts. I forgot to tell you guys, My Dad just went skydiving today. He has a video of him skydiving and its hillarious (When asked by the interviewer: ’ so do you have any last words in case something goes wrong. Like telling your family you love them.’ dad responds, " Nope") lol!. I learned so much about how we could possibly shoot it (well digitally anyway). I can try and digitize the footage for you guys to watch.

That would be a great idea!.just to see how the flapping of the clothes behave and how this can be simplified during animation without looking dead.
btw what kind of planes do the guys the skydive usually use anyone knows?

Baby is coming sooooo Atlanta for a minute
We will see after a couple of months after she is born, what happens to LA.

Very cool… Can’t wait to see that! Once we get the site up, we can post the vids there… I have a friend that is helping with that end… soon.

The other work here inspired me to have a go at it. Don’t like the actual ‘diver’ design much right now, but the fly’s cute

(PIC removed).

Fantastic!! All of the ideas are terrific…thanks to all for contributing to the idea… Freefall…very cool name!.. and the “a messiah film” is a nice touch…

Hey… what about the website name being MessiahFilms.com

No religious connotation here… just so you know…

There ya go wegg

Hello. Not sure if this is an open discussion thing, but, I think this is a really fun project idea. I personally think Bardakos’s concept sketch is a little funnier and interesting so far, but thats just an opinion. Something about it really makes me what to see him go through some haphazard events.

You might want to consider asking the artists to do a rendition of each others styles, or another round to see how those sort out, that could be a great exercise.

Good luck, I look forward to watching the finished work!

Had some time; the doodle continues…

I have read every single page regarding this topic since the beginning and you guys have come so far since then… That’s excellent. Although I have “some” knowledge of 3D programs, I don’t feel comfortable making anything in 3D. I can, however work on music and sound effects. I know, it still may be too early to be thinking about things like that but I just wanted to let you guys know that there is a “sound” guy available. I can also do a couple of story boards.

So far, the story is great. Someone posted the idea of the pilot and instructor bailing followed by the diver and an umbrella. That idea is excellent but, as has been said before, a little too generic. I will post some ideas later.

When I used to fly … the Cessna 210 was the most popular for taking up skydivers. It had seating for four adults and six in later models.

For a bunch of skydivers, it would have to be the venerable DC 3:

#176

Cool pictures. I like the Cessna 210, it would be fun animating the guy getting stuck, flailing, trying to peel through one of those mini-doors with a parachute on his back (or was that a window in the picture – even more funny). He manages to get out, but has to chase after his parachute which had gotten tangled (or disconnected from him) – as he’s falling to the ground.

#177

oooohhhh the DC 3 looks nice and shiny

bad bad raytracing but cooool

btw here s another rough one for the the diver…

i wil try to change his parachute and uniform as soon as i get back to the studio…!

cheers…
