Short Film Collaboration: Discussion and Concept development

Can I explain my idea? I think that the story of the man flying and the personified 3Dpackages is very cute but too “self-speaking”…I mean it would be useful a more “readable” story which could speak also to that who don’t know anything about 3d world…but It’s only a personal thought…

In the meantime that’s a story I was working on…

A man(“mr. Bean” like) is waiting for a bus at the station…there’s also an old woman…1)she tries to take the bus arriving but she lose her tissue from her bag.2)the man advised her,she rounds the haed losing the bus:she’s furious with him.3)arrivig a new bus…the man starts to take it but the oldwoman prepares her revange:she calls him without a reason making him lose his bus…4)a serious of gags to define 5)the END:a car is arrivig:an old friend of the oldwoman’s;he “clacson” to her offering a lift…the woman moved to pity calls the man asking him to mount on board…when he is near to car a dog on the car gets up and starts to bark…the old woman smiles badly and goes away fast…

It’s only an plus idea, not a refusing of the last ones…

I don’t like the idea of characters talking, I feel it takes away from the acting. I think once we start seeing concept paintings eventually we will all get excited.

#83

Nice job Taron! Haven’t spoken to you in quite some time. I hope all is well and you’re not overworking yourself…as always.

#84

not sure what kind of name people are looking for, but alot of my ideas are taken already.

the best idea that i have that is actually available for sale is collaboriah.com lol, you know collaboration and messiah… yeah cheesy.

anyway suggestions appreciated, just make sure to check for availability…

lol. here are some more alcohol induced ideas:

sunshinelollipops.com

Collaboriah.com? Hahaha…better than Messilaboration.com! :applause:

I still like projectpilgrimage …might sound a little offensive to some, but then we’re talking about projectmessiah here…hehehe…c’mon! :scream:

#86

that’s Cool Taron well worth the time writing it

I’ll put my hand up to help too, Sounds interested :applause:

THo add few ideas on top of yours
maybe the Task is to hit a target 100 meters away

I think LW would be good as a Old pro footballer or retired sportsman He justs start running to punch the target, Starts off well but 10 meters from the Target loses the plot and ends up running head first into a tree.

Messiah is a Smart ass teenager, everyone thinks he’s a dumbass, But ends up solving the problem by Thinking Quick and improvising and nearly getting there.

XSI well new robot is good But it’s way is to Fire missles at the target Too bad you have to load, setup, read manual, account for wind etc ,. misses the first shot by 5 meters but playing with afew control and fires again and again untill he hits it.

Haven’t used any others laterly, so can’t comment on them, But nice idea

#87

i like the app analogies but as stated before by someone else, its a plot that would appeal only to dorks like us… most normal people would be like wtf??? ooooook…

www.projectcollab.com

www.projectpilgrimage.com

www.cgpilgrimage.com

www.cg-hive.com

personally im not a fan of religious stuff but if thats what people want then thats what will happen. I WOULD like to hear more ideas from people…

#89

besides religious names,

I like “project:collaboration” or “project:opendistance”
something that explains the features of this web-based project…

#90

if done right only the dorks will get the logo references/names well sort of names
( trademarks etc legals have to be changes ) Mayo . XIS, lightave, Maxo etc would do it

and if it’s funny,… well it’s just funny

At first I was not sure about projectpilgrimage… but it has really grown on me… especially considering Pmg’s product name.

Did not think about this until recently, but if you think about the name “Project Messiah”… hmm… kind of an odd name… unless you think of it as truely a way to “save” your project from certain pitfalls…maybe the ability to help the animator finish the project they envision…maybe that is the meaning… I don’t presume to know the answer to that… just a thought…

And this is going to be a pilgrimage of sorts… truely!. There will be times when it feels like we are wondering in the desert…lol… hopefully we will reach the promise…of becoming better animators and helping to contribute to the 3d community at the same time!.

I vote for projectpilgrimage…

#92

Dorks for dorks…ha…this first story idea is really to test the waters… as such, i think its ok if we appeal to the 3D audience… The ending of the story is more generic anyway…

Taron has a good conclusion, if he wants to share it…basically, a moral to the story.

#93

Since everyone’s banging on their drum, here’s a bang from an African drum . . .

The Messiah mostly used parables to convey deeper truths. If there’s a bit of meaning to a story, then it can both entertain and have further value. Some folks like only the entertainment. A parable also easily lends itself to story telling without dialogue.

Something like www.messiahparables.com could then handle the messiah community short stories.

#94

Will be working on organizational items in the short term… web, structure, that sort of thing…will keep you posted…

#95

Horrhum, although I’m not as experienced as an animator or as a messiah user as some of the others here, I do at least have a lot of experience producing animations on no budget so I think I could be of some assistance here.
Is there room for another cook at the broth making seremony?
If so, I’m in.

Here is another story with some storyboards I wipped up last night. See what you think, it needs a little work, but could be fun. There are two boards, but I can’t post them together, so here is the first of two.

Thanks!

#97

Here is the second storyboard.

MLMckenzie: Funny story! The early worm gets the bird

For great examples of Storyboards. I recommend visiting Pixar’s own Paul Seidman’s website.

Crossbones,

Thanks for the link! Some great art and ideas there. Yeah, storyboards are an artform all on their own, and technically speaking mine are not “production ready” just something to hack out an idea.
