Not missing just busy - first weekend away this weekend, though I may be taking some Motion Builder docs for some ‘light reading’ whilst I’m there :wink:

Have in mind an animation, but I need to figure out some constraint issues with MB first.

Hey I actually had time to work yesterday. I made a couple minor additions to the trian and uploaded the final for you SD. If you get a chance could you add some details to the bottom of the engines and the cars, at least towards the edges? I think I going to try and play with CityGen today. Hopefully we can use that to replace that cheap city proxie I have setup in the distance. If so we should be able to use it for sevearal other things in the future as well.

Colkai- I’m glad you and Sllink are on top of the MB side of things. I really need some time to sit down and get to grips with it too. Can adda team forum “MB for dummies” tut on the keyframe animating you were talking about in one of your previous posts???:wavey:

I wasn’t sure whether to mention this to you or not. It’s really neat for building quick cities, reasonably low poly as well, plus the surfaces are assigned automatically.

I am a registered user of both Plugpak & Modpak - just never thought I’d be in a project it would come in handy for :wink:

SD: I’d be happy to do a simple tut for you if you’d like, as I learn more about MB it could be useful get the info out to all concerned. Probably be next weekend before I could look at it though.
I’m having some major headaches with constraints and such at the moment.

Hi, colkai. Yep thats the plugin SD and I have been talking about. I’ve been putting off trying it for along time. Guess now is the time to finally breakdown and try it. Have you used it for anything? By the way the LW8 lighting book is dang well worth the wait. Wes mentioned that you should see it on Amazon in about a week or so.

Only toyed with it, but, like everything of Eki’s. what it does, it does damn well :wink:
Eeek - having said that, just tried it here and it keeps crashing with an invalid vector - have to see if it works at home tonight.

Dang it SD, we were both wrong, it was neither again nor still. Sorry everyone else just an inside joke on me. Anyways I siwtched out the train tracks and columns as a seperate file. The file has been uploaded for you as well.

as a foot note whilst working on smokes guge-d model to TRY and complete it, as an idea of the scale of this thing, which i am trying to get my head round, and my mac, bless its little cotton socks too.

the featured torus below, 20,500 polygons, prizes will be given for guessing the poly count at the moment lol…

colkai, the error your getting with CityGen woulden’t happen to be -
Line 424, invalid argument 1 type to vector() would it? Because thats what I’m getting. I even went out and re-downloaded it thinking I had a bad copy.
jayreef - Sorry my brain is having problems counting above 2 today but my guess is if that torus alone has 20,500 polys then the total obj is over 7 figures. Now if only I had a dime for every poly…

Jayreef- :smiley: We’re plodding along. Mission #2 is still not finished yet, so it is active along with this sidemission (which has become a pretty big “side” :wink:
There are more missions in the pipe, but we better finish what is now active. Really do appreciate your enthusiasm!:thumbsup:

PS: the Guges I would guess 874,267,989 polys/??

should also mention that the mega poly Guges is in no way Smokes fault. It’s likely the convert.

Aurora- So, I take it that means all went well with the scene?? lol:applause:

Sllink- Yes, We could use some 3D peoplefor the scenes …Aurora and I were contemplating clip maps for small distant people. Could use some models for the tower interior shot if we actually do it ontop of the other shots.:smiley:

Shes looking hot! My only comment is to who ever does the hair make it about an inch longer. Ok, Ok, I admit I have a fetish for long hair!!!

Yeah, moving the tracks to a seperate file was not a problem for the scene. As long as no translations in any shape or form happens to them then everything will stay OK. So it was no big deal.
Now what is a problem is I can’t get CityGen to work with LW7.5. I found a couple of others for LW but they were crap. I did find a rather cool one for Max. Is anybody working with 3DSMax that woudl like to give it a shot?? I have an old v4 of Max but have not used it in a couple of years not sure I remember how to even start it up.:blush:

Seems it’s a known problem with Citygen. If you go into the mod/presets folder you’ll find an LScript ‘default_cgen’ - run that, (takes a while depending on your CPU), then you can run citygen as normal again. I ran it, then closed and re-opened modeller jsut to be on the safe side. :wink:
