Sheldon: Bunny

#1

Here is my render for my bunny

I though, what if you strap a rocket on a hare, throw a cape and let it fly… what if…
I will add particles and other stuff to it including background. I spent a good portion of the time getting the fur right and doing some shading work.
c&cs are most welcome.

That’s great, Sheldon!

The fur is off to a great start, too, I’m sure you can get the last few areas like the inside of the ears finished off.

If he’s going to be flying, he’ll need some fill light from the sky lighting him all the way around, so no parts of his cape go dark, etc.

Here is an update…

Here is one with dof and used after effects glow for the laser beam

Great! See if you can make the cape look more like cloth and fix the corner that’s going black. Also see if you can fix the bottom of the strap going black, and add some occlusion or shadowing or something between the tank and the cape.

Maybe for your next post you could show a breakdown with just the key light separated, so we can see how the shadows and self-shadowing of the fur is working in the key, then the fill lights with their shadows?

Looks fun…but I have to say, I still like your first bunny the best. The fur looked the most realistic on that guy, without that sparse black-showing-through effect.

As far as the latest render, I like the little touches - such as the laser beam light on the rabbits head. On that note, the rocket fire isn’t producing any light effects though…it would be lighting the hell outta his cape and the smoke trail. Also his ear is completly lost on the rocket - the colors are too similar and might need to change, or throw in a rimlight to add definition.

Sorry if any of this is just a repeat you probably heard in class last night. It’s just sooo close to looking amazing…
