This is a simple test showing the abilitity of shatter it! to prefracture an object with holes and simulate with pulldownit solver, It is simple but not easy, a good test to try with other shatter tools as well.
Shatter it! by thinkinetic
I have just discover this plug, very good tool. Im surprised by its speed and pretty stable, obviusly it is not PhysX, Im tired of unexpected objects explosions with it, It reminds me bullet physics, It has been used in 2012 for almost all the rigid bodies effects.
anybody knows if pulldownit has bullet physics inside?
Hi Lovedebri,
Pulldownit has its own original dynamics solver, it is faster than bullet computing, and includes fracture capabilities not present in any other, you can check the diffrences between pdi and bullet in Maya, there exist a bullet plugin for this platform aswell.
Here a clip by onemoreproduction making lots of terrain cracking in the style of 2012, all dynamics effects has been done with pulldownit plugin
Im have been using your tool this holydays, here my test:
It is done in the same way I have seen some bullet demos and I have to say Im very glad with the resukt and the time of computation, less than 5 min in my core 2 machine, but I have had some problems in MAX 2009, with other test using non-convex fragments done with another shatter tool, the sim was good but I was unable to reload the scene with pdi info after done, is this issue fixed in the pro version?, could you fix it in the free?
Great test lovedebri,
We have already fixed the issue you mention in the pro version, it willbe fixed aswell in the next update of the free version.
I used the free copy some, and it has some cool features, but it crashed/froze max up a lot for me, and I couldn’t open my files, as they’d freeze or crash max.
I think this issue is alredy fixed in pro version, please send me any of your files which fails in a private message and I will check it, Im glad to send you a fix for this.
By the way pulldownit pro has been updated with support for space warps in Max, here a demo video showing this new feature,
i was having a look to the webpage of the pull down it, and i played with the standard version and seemed quite good, the solver was fast and fairly accurate! but i couldn’t see the price for the “pro” version, how much is it?
cheers
thanks for the good comments, if you like free version you will be amazed by the power and features of pulldownit pro, you have to contact thinkinetic to know about licencing.
i kept trying the standar version of pullDownIt and even tho the solver seems really good, the software crashed mas A LOT, just with simple thinks like adding objects to the list, or even just selection objects while on the utility menu open would crash, with fairly simple scenes…when it worked it was good thought…i wonder if there´s a demo version of the pro release that we could try? like a 30 days free trial or something?
Hi Alex,
I work at thinkinetic as programmer and I think it is possible to send you an eval version of pulldownit pro, but you have to contact our marketing guys, I think there is a contact form somewhere in the pulldownit site.
Thanks for the fix, it loads perfect now, here another test with Pdi,
the structure is made using array and mirror tool in MAX, the demolition takes just a couple of minutes to be done, very funny.
Hey, lovedebri, you make really good tests, I like specially this one:
I think you are using pulldownit pro, how much it cost? also is it worth regarding the free version?
Yes, Im using pulldownit pro but not purchase, Im betatesting the 1.5 version, they kindly offer me this.
I must tell you pro version with multithreading is much faster than any other rbd solver I have ever seen, I have just got the new interface for advanced fractures, something cool, the glue together feature of pdi was already cool but with this new UI you get also lot of control in the way objects fracture, impressive.
Another test witn pulldownit and force fields(space warps), this one shows the ability of pdi 1.5 to make different force fields affect different objects when they are colliding each other, the creative possibilities of this new feature are endless,
This tests are great, I like the stability and power of pulldownit, but it is not for Max 2010, also max 2011 is coming, when are you going to release pdi for Max 2010,2011? Im looking forward
impressiv free tool!
Why no news over the web about it?
I am posingt it on maxunderground.
Thansk Loran, for the news in Maxunderground and your nice comments, I think your blog is alos very interesting, I have put a topic about it in our forum

To Sekelela:
Pdi pro is available for Max 2010 since september 2009, free version for Max 2010 will be released in some weeks.
Another test with pdi 1.5, this time I tried breaking a wall with stucco, this is the result:
I like it, but the best is how easily it was done, just three or four steps to set up and 1 minute computing, when I have tried this with other dynamics tools everything was so painful.
amazing plugin
