I’m using AE CS5 and have a separate alpha file (png) that I use with Track Matte as a Luma Matte. All is good except for the slight black rim around my characters. I tried using the Matte Choker but it doesn’t seem to work. Also, since the alpha is on a separate file, I can’t use the premultiplied option when the files are imported. The alpha was created in Maxwell Render, which I could not find an option for a file that combines the alpha with the image file. Any ideas?
Separate Alpha Channel / Halo Effect

I would either try throwing on an unmult filter and then trying the matte choker again, or using the levels effect to crush the edges bit.
There must be a better solution, but i’m a bit airheaded at the moment…

You could also try the effect Remove Color Matting, under the Channel effects. Leave it set to black. This is exactly what it’s designed for, I think. Choking in the edges with the levels effect does indeed work, but anywhere you have a tight corner, it’s going to soften that a bit, round it off.
