Truly useful plug-in. Thank you!
First a new version of wings and now this - its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. I give you praise in the form that the teenagers like to describe as “mad props.”
Assuming version wings_sel_cmd2006-11-29.tar is the latest version, I have a couple of suggestions:
Other than that, great work!
PS: Your ballon46 sculpture is imaginative and masterful - do you animate your characters? The clown would be a cool character to see animated.
I don’t do animation. Just the static models.
Thanks for the mad props. LOL.
I should use .zip files. What extracter do you use on Windows that does not do TAR ??? I’m building on linux so I use tar. When I get my windows machine running again … I can start doing .zip
A lot of people on Windows don’t use any extra zip utility anymore. Windows XP comes with the ability to create/unpack zip files natively - so most people never install another tool. Typically, it’s easier for your average Linux user to know how to make a zip than it is to explain to a Windows user how to access a tar. (I use a command line tar utility on WIndows, but wouldn’t want to explain how to use that to a typical user.)
You shouldn’t need Windows to create a zip, though. I can zip/unzip on my Linux machines right from the default installation (Ubuntu & Fedora) - either through the command line ‘zip’ or from the GUI through the right-click menu connecting to the Archive utility.
By the way - thanks for the tool - regardless of how it’s packed.
OK … I’m out of touch with reality here … been on linux machine for 1 month and doing Mac development at work.
I will try to remember make .zip files from now on. Many people have asked for .zip. I just download enough stuff that I end up with WinRAR or WinZIP before very long when I’m on windows.
Hi.
I really think all should try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.org).
It’s free and works like a charm
From their web site:
The main features of 7-Zip:
[ul]
[li]High compression ratio in new 7z format with LZMA compression[/li][li]Supported formats:[/li]
[li]Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR[/li][li]Unpacking only: RAR, CAB, ISO, ARJ, LZH, CHM, Z, CPIO, RPM, DEB and NSIS[/li][/ul]
[li]For ZIP and GZIP formats 7-Zip provides compression ratio that is 2-10 % better than ratio provided by PKZip and WinZip[/li][li]Self-extracting capability for 7z format[/li][li]Integration with Windows Shell[/li][li]Powerful File Manager[/li][li]Powerful command line version[/li][li]Plugin for FAR Manager[/li][li]Localizations for 63 languages[/li]
7-Zip works in Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP. There is port of command line version for Linux/Unix.
Best regards.
Awesome plugin! Will have some suggestions once I give it a go but I have been thinking of how awesome a plugin like this would be for Wings3D. Thanks for the hardwork.
I’m very glad you like the plugin.
There are definately some minor aspects of how this is labeled and how the various options interact that might need tweeking … but generally, I like it. I like the suggestion of saving the last set of options picked. I’m pretty sure I’ll make that change before too long.
