Nickillus: Thanks Nick. I am glad you enjoy the idea of taking the “secret agent” literally for this image. The problem will be having the painting stand out I think, because the agent wont be right in your face. So I plan on going into a lot of detail doing the scenery. Although I do plan on having the action between the agent and the suspect be the main focal point.

I like the overall mood and color, the way you distributed the light and the angle you put on the smoke from the chimneys lead my eyes right on your agent.

Here is another update from me. I decided the big neon sign had to go. It looked ok in the cropped view I had above but it just ending up being very awkward for the whole image. So I have been playing around a bit more throughout the night.

In this, you can tell what’s going on and where the focus is. It also has a great background and composition. It works far better for the story…just a thought…

I love how this is looking, Matt! The atmosphere is great, the details, the temperature… I like the fact that you can’t see any sky, just more buildings in the “upper city.” It also helps subtly reinforce that this is the seedy underbelly of the city, too. It’s clear who the agent is now, although it could be less clear at a glance if you add a lot more characters in front of the bar on the left as in your earlier comp… Guess we’ll just have to see. As for the agent and the robot he’s grilling, it might be nice to see him struggling a bit more- the pose is a bit passive at the moment, given the threat to his well being.

Great work! Very nice environment & mood! Like the architecture & the shape of the buildings; the “Corner Store” is looking cool! Very nice lighting! I guess, we are going to get a treat of a beautiful matte-painting, through this image!
