Nice color design and composition. I love the locale! My only crit at this point would be that it’s too much locale and not enough secret agents… or else your secret agents are so good at stealth and subterfuge that I have trouble figuring out where they are… very clever! But I know your still just working stuff out… good luck with the rest!

hahah thanks for the comments Michael! I am glad you like it so far  and yes if you look closely you can see the secret agent in action. Although I will be changing it up an bit and adding more people around them to help it blend in more and I havent flushed out the character design yet. But having the agent not be visible right away is exactly my idea

BEAUTIFUL WORK!

#32

Next please !

#33

great work! the tone and and mood are pretty compelling.

#34

I like the thinking Matt. Subtle stuff and looking at the way your painting is going already, I reckon you’ll pull it off beautifully.

#35

Great work! I really like that dark futuristic scene, the contrast of neon light and dark foggy streets and the idea of an agent hidden in the crowd…

BLADE-RUNNER: thanks!

gpepper: soon I hope  I am going to be busy with some freelance matte painting for the next week or so. But I hope to be able to put some time aside to work on this.

loki731: hey thanks

Nickillus: Thanks Nick. I am glad you enjoy the idea of taking the “secret agent” literally for this image. The problem will be having the painting stand out I think, because the agent wont be right in your face. So I plan on going into a lot of detail doing the scenery. Although I do plan on having the action between the agent and the suspect be the main focal point.

sanja: Hey thanks a lot! I am glad you like the atmosphere I am trying to create and I hope that I can pull it off

Update coming soon!

looking really nice, can’t wait to see a more detailed version, good luck!!

I like the overall mood and color, the way you distributed the light and the angle you put on the smoke from the chimneys lead my eyes right on your agent.

Nice work Matellis

Hey guys thanks for all the feedback! Here is a bit of an update from the weekend.

#40

Here is a close up of the agent scene within the painting. It is still very rough as I am just trying to come up with a basic idea. Still very much to do.

#41

Here is another update from me. I decided the big neon sign had to go. It looked ok in the cropped view I had above but it just ending up being very awkward for the whole image. So I have been playing around a bit more throughout the night.

Here is a larger version of the whole scene.

Hey Matt,

Cool concept, like a lot your idea on a “tech noir” style  The last image looks simply amazing, the city and the atmosphere is a freat touch for the concept. Looking forward for more updates! Cheers!!

Hi matt, I didn’t saw your thread before? That’s beautiful. Really great. Love the ambiance and colors.

#46

Hey there! Loving the vibe you have going on here…just one little thing…

actually my favourite image in this thread is not the full one, but this close up:

In this, you can tell what’s going on and where the focus is. It also has a great background and composition. It works far better for the story…just a thought…
