Well, I think this will be a good way to break in 3D Max 2010. I entered the image challenge because I dont have the energy right now for a video. I have been getting pretty burned out in the last few weeks (tons going on, but little of it paid). I have to upgrade FumeFX to Max 2010 as I think I am going to need it for this one. This will also give me a good practice with Mudbox doing something other than doodling.

I dont really have a concept yet, but am thinking of possible having a tall glass skyscraper with a corner office exploding. As the glass shatters and the fireball comes bursting out a ‘secret agent’ comes diving out of the explosion kind of riding the shockwave in a freefal. As he falls he shoots one of those little climbing probes that magically locks on to whatever it hits (you know, like when the two jedi are falling down the elevator shaft in Ep. II and they shoot those things that just happen to somehow stick to cement) and the shot is taken right as the probe whizzes past the camera so that you have that in the foreground, the agent in the middle, and the huge explosion in the background, complete with shattering glass, a panaramic city and sky, and possibly a good depth shot of the 30 or so stories he risked falling.

Like I said, I really dont have a conept yet, but that is an idea I kind of thought about. My wife couselled against it saying that it might be to 911’esque. I am not too sure about that, but hey… what do I know. So a I say at the end of all of my tutorials… stay tuned.

This is my pre viz layout. I am just getting the gist of what I am looking for, and laying out some ideas on how to get the best view, the most dramatic effect, and things like that.

A new angle, with simple 3 point lighting and a different shadow map. That was driving me crazy. Thats all for tonight. Good night.
