Secret Agent Entry: Dariusz Sebastian Burdon

#141

Hey,

This is a single frame from the shot with the agent and his briefcase. This one is followed by the shot when briefcase opens and the gun comes out.

Agent is shot on green screen. Environment is 3d, rendered with mental ray.

I am working on few shots but there is not much time left, and I will have to loose some of them.

#142

Cool!

They keying is a little off… slightly jagged around the top. And his colors / focus don’t quite match the environment. (picture on wall is more in-focus than character.)

That said - it looks like it’s gonna be a cool shot, and my guess is none of those issues would be noticeable at 640x360 in the CGtalk flash player! Hehe. That’s what I keep hoping for some of our shots anyway : )

This is the “harpoon shot” as I call it. It will be followed by sliding down on that rope which is WIP

Please let me know what you think.

I think that the tether should be a little bit straighter near the grapple especially after it hits the wall. Right now it looks like the frequency of the tether is a little bit too uniform as its flying through the air. Since it is spinning and flying at high speed, the wavelength and amplitude of the tether should increase slightly over the length, as well as slump very slightly in the center.

Other than that I think it looks pretty good.

#145

Cool, nice dynamic shot. I would get some yellow haze in the sky from all the city lights. And some DOF on the close-up would help.
Look forward to seeing an edit.

#146

Hey looks good man, I like the cracks and debris after it hits the wall. Good work.

#147

Thanks for feedback on the “harpoon” shot.
I am tweaking the shot with a little bit of haze etc

#148

I’m ok with the harpoon’s animation, sure everything we all do can be tweeked. I think the main thing is the lighting on the buildings and the sky done.

Sky looks blue/purple on my monitor. I’d go just black, sky photo.

real light has a strong fall off, the buildings feel light with little or no fall off. Can you do a HDRI of a city at night? or something with global illumination? The buildings look textured and modeled well enough. if you dial in the lighting on the buildings & sky I’m move on to the next shot.

Love the collision hit/cracks and fx, nice timing and scale.

just went back over the posts I missed, The suitcase gun looks good! add a little ambient occlusion and done!, right?

Car model looks AWESOME! I want to see more. Looks great, so bad ass! Keep it up!

I can see that people are uploading their final entries. I am still working on mine but everything is going according to the plan so far.

Image above is a title image for my trailer. This is also an image that you will see all over the world on the day of the premiere when this movie gets made… hehe just joking

Style is inspired by trailers for Call of Duty World at War, trailers for Rocknrolla, Green Day 21st Century Breakdown cover and the T-shirt I was wearing to work today.
I wonder if some of you can recognize the landmark building.

Agent Kowalski was my first idea for the title and I mentioned it in my first post that it was a wroking title. Now it is final. Like MJ once said “This Is It”.
I am hoping to finish my entry tomorrow.
I have few small suprices for you in that trailer

#151

we’re working at the same speed, in that we’re both done with about 0 time left (give or take a day), lol. Well you and I were one of the few entries that tried to show all our work. I got too focused on finishing shots in the last week here with little update but yeah, hope your stuff turned out to your liking. The best part so far has been learning SO much about all these different areas in the process. I know I normally don’t finish projects I start if they are too big, this is a first for me of a project of this size.

3 months of solid work, countless sleepless nights, a bit of traveling around the world and hundreds of simulation and rendering hours, lots of coffee, but most of all a lot of great fun, learning new techniques. It all comes down to this video.

This is it. This is really it.

I have finished it and I am super happy with it and with the fact that I made it on time.
I wish making of section was longer because there are few shot that are very good to break down (last shot for example).
It was fantastic time and I hope everyone feels the same.

Please let me know what you think of my trailer.
Good Luck…

Wow, That was mind blowing work pierzak. I bacame your fan. I really mean it. I am very new to any forum or contest so far. Now i feel i missed a lot in my carrier. This challenge gives me lot of motivation. All the best you deserve top.

Regarding my upload issue, I have downloaded latest java and installed,

first time i entered the command C:>java -jar challengeuploader.jar , it was giving some message. when i click ok, it goes to challegeuploader page, but uploading was not completed, even though it says 100%. I tried next time same command, this time without any message it goes to challegenge uploader page and the upload completed.

#155

Haha I loved your full length trailer so much. “Even more explosions,” I laughed so hard. Excellent work man, glad you got it done.

#156

Thanks ivanisavich and dhesing.
I am glad that you like the trailer. It is good to hear that the last three months turned out to be something people would enjoy.

It is a very good expirience.
I was thinking of making an additional making of video… just for people on forum. As there was only green screen charcters and the rest is 3D matte painting and photo retuch.
I might just do it for my reel.

I would like to hear what other people think of Agent Kowalski trailer.
What they like or dislike about it.

#157

Now then dude, looking quality! Well pleased with your finished article.
Action good! Explosions good, voice over good, VFX excellent. good luck.

Im avin a right pain getting my last shots done. But the extension is a god send  gonna still try and get most of my work done today though i reckon, did you see my first trailer draft? could you check it out and gimme some feedback maybe? cheers.

#158

Hey that’s an awesome entry man! You can be really proud of yourself. A lot of neat looking shots. Sorry that I didn’t reply to your thread earlier.

Good luck on the judging! It’s looking great.

#159

Very cool Dariusz. Congratulations on finishing it with such high quality.

By the way, di you all notice that the deadline just got extended? They are giving everyone, including those of us that already submitted, three more days. Read the FAQ thread for more details.

Juan Carlos

Juan Carlos thanks for telling me about the deadline. It is wierd because if you look when I uploaded my final video… well today at 5 am. ehh… I am going out for the weekend therefore I don’t think I will do any work on my animation… there are few areas where I could tweak this or that… so perhaps I will do that tonight… but I can’t do anything major.

Shout out to every one on forum… Please support my entry and convince judges that it is the best, as I really really really need a new workstation to do more awesome work.
Thanks
