Hey everybody as usual I find out last minute that CGsociety is hosting yet another cool challenge.
I would like to thank you for checking out my Secret Agent work in progress. I hope to come up with a final image that follows the challenge guidelines while being dynamic, memorable and pleasing to the eye.

Most espionage stories involve the obtaining of secret information without permission. This activity has to be done in secret in order to keep the holder of the information from taking countermeasures.
I’ve always been interested in Detectives and how they figure out crimes and mysteries. I also enjoy secret agent stories where the cover is blown and the agent has to clear their name and such. Female agents in particular always catch my attention unless said male agent is of a badass breed like Bond or Jason Borne.
That does not mean that agents have to come from our present timeline or decade.
Spy’s and secret agents have been around since ancient times. How else would kings be able to know about their enemy in war or where to get the best cloth or gold.
This is the very early stage in my secret agent creation so anything goes I’ve drawn out thumb nails testing what my brain is thinking. I found out Tuesday night about the challenge and spent my spare time on Wednesday brainstorming.
I didn’t get a feel for exactly what I’d be comfortable working on so I decided to focus on the character design. After some thought on what the characters would possibly look like i went back to sketching the scene .

I have decided to focus on the following scenario.

-A Secret Agent breaks in to a building to steal undisclosed information and destroy it. However the agents surveillance team is discovered by the FBI before the get away.

I’ve chosen a thumb nail sketch that I feel to be phenomenal and took it into Photoshop. There is alot going on so I use a simple line color change to remind me where the foreground, mid-ground (where most of the action is) and background are located. I’m not very skilled at figuring out lighting so I will be using maya to figure out lights. I like to know my background and lighting before painting in my subjects.
It allows me to get a feel of what goes where when I begin to paint. This sketch took my a roughly and hour. I decided to put the agent in the background because I want the veiwer to be totally focused on the excitement. Depending on how I feel I may change the position of my secret agent. It’s possible he will be hidden in the shadows just to add a sense of mystery to the final image. I generally like the position of everything and I defiantly have my work cut out for me.
