Secret Agent Entry: Aurelien Rantet

#81

Hello to all.

Really nice work Aurelien !

Now, some words for all people who have doubts and questions about Aurélien’s work :
I’m one of Aurelien 3D teacher. I know him well and I can swear on whatever you want that his NOT a cheater !

All you can see here is his work, all made by himself, alone. He would not be betray by his fellows during a party, I would believed he just disappeared during summer. In fact, he was working on the spy project.

Aurelien is not able to handle a job at just 50%, not even 100% ! 300% is his way, no less !

He was by far the best of his class last year, and the points he loose were not due to his work, but on the way to present it ! But I think you already understood that it’s his main problem

Aurelien, I said it to you many time ‘L’argumentaire est aussi important que l’image ! Et c’est souvent le seul moyen de comprendre ton travail’.

Indeed, I’m a little bit disappointed by your silence. You could send just a little mail to say you were doing this challenge. I would tell you how to handle it. A good competitor for CGChallenge have to post at least once a week at minimum, and for every step of the project. And a very good competitor has to help other competitors by posting comments on their works. I’m afraid you lose points by forgetting this rule. CGtalk is a forum, not a battle field.

Last little thing. I would love to see Aurelien directly in Master Degree instead of 3rd year. I’m going to ask director of school monday. If it’s not possible, I would like to talk to you, Aurelien, about what you should do now.

And again : Really nice work ! I love it !

Looking very nice. I think this one will probably win.

That being said, some of the animation of the main character is stiff and blocky. I think mainly when he takes footsteps his animation looks unpolished…mostly the character doesn’t look balanced and the animation is jumpy. But I really like the design of the whole thing and the story is intriguing.

Best of luck finishing your project!

thanks for the replay François (Youpi),
I was wishing one of his teachers would write on here. I felt like it was possible for him to be working like he has… but he’s fallen back into his old ways again. Posted an animation of what he was working on, posted a few models, and then again silence. Well hopefully he listens to you. I feel like we might not hear from him again until another huge update or the end. At least we know more about his story. Thanks.

Aurelien, you have such a great sense of color, I hope you are able to finish all that you want in the next 2 weeks. Good luck.

hi everyone,
I don’t really know how to reply to these comments, I don’t used to show a work until it’s perfect but maybe it’s the wrong way to work.
Sorry, I don’t have post a lot of update this week, it’s ibecause i still working on the animation, as Ivanisavic says, the main character motion is still weird.

you’re a funny guy, next time make it you plus an animator and you’ll rule the world. I’m really happy with your progress, 2 weeks left, is there only one more sequence? The one with that big robot or ship thing?

#87

Hi Aurélien,
I’m really impressed by how you skill fast in animation! I can’t wait to see the final result and speak of your work with you, maybe at the next “Jeudi bordelais”, I’ll be there with François and other people you know

To other member,
Hi, I’m Sébastien, the other 3d teacher of Aurélien and I can confirm that he do all this himself, all impossible to do this could look like for you.

So keep up working, Aurel, I like it :bounce:

Cheer,
Ryo Aka Sébastien

There is 2 sequences left, for the one with the alien ship, i start the animation, and the last one will be the punchline of the story, so i don’t want to show it before the whole movie is complete, i have already modeled, textured and lighted this one.
And i will redone the introduction, it will be a kind of slide-show with picture who mix photo, 3d and 2d.

Very nice man  I like all your color choices.

#92

Here pictures for the introduction.

#93

How long are you planning to make your entry?

#94

Keep going man - perfect mood and atmosphere! Everything feels exactly right, like it belongs all in the same world - that’s not an easy thing to achieve, well done!

#95

Hi,
Thanks for your comment Duncs !
And sorry Pierzak, but i don’t really understand your question. If you want to know how long is my film, it’s 4:25 . If you speak about when i will finish it, I’m now rendering the lasts shots, so it will not be so long. If i don’t have answered correctly, just tell me.

#96

Thanks my question wasn’t clear. I ment how long is the animation. So it is 4:25. Thanks.

Not sure if you meant to spell it that way or if it was a mistake, but I think you meant
Run for the Artifact

I don’t think you are supposed to use commercial music. Anybody correct me if I’m wrong.

Looks really good though. Animation could still be smoothed out some. Needs more weight to things. Not that there is time now though. Really like the lighting and colors you used.

Well done.

#99

Thank for your comment Richard. In fact, “artefact” is the French way to spell it. But you’re right, i think I’m going to write it like you said.
For the music i’m not sure too. I’ve seen people who use commercial music on the previous challenge. I hope i haven’t got to change it.

gosh that was awesome! Amazing job you did there! Some of the character anim could use some work, but the amount of overall work largely compensate! The lighting and visual style is simply amazing.

Good job!
