Plane render test, this particular shot is a bit less than a second, but plane is used in another 2 shots.
“The background photo used in this image doesn’t belong to us and it is taken from a online source. It’s here just for the purpose of compositing test and will not be a part of the final entry”
We were initially planning to use live footage for this shot, but it turned out to be impossible with our equipment, so now we are doing a portion of the city (Dubai) in 3D, i wouldn’t worry much about the rendering as it is a stylized shot.
You have a good start there!
It looks more like a volcano erupting than something exploding because you have the fuel ignition (the bright spots) on the outside of the effect. Try making the fuel ignition happen on the inside of the effect. Just make their hotspots at the backs of the trails instead of the front
Good motion on the shockwave dust.
Can you get any more detail out of the smoke itself? It looks a little soft right now…
playblast of Maya scene, now we got to shade it and render it. I’ve added a 2D motion blur in here, for the final work, i am not yet sure how to make the motion blur, i am afriad 3D motion blur will take for ever to render… any suggestions?
you are certainly right about the volcano effect, it’s just at this point the amount of work ahead of us is really overwhelming, i am gonna try to fix this one sometime between the other shots, one major problem is, i don’t really have that much experience or knowledge with these type of effects, i mean i neither know their behavior properly, nor i have simulated this before, … (sigh)…
still trying…
Well the colors going from the reddish to the grey on the trails must be coming from some kind of ramp. A start would be to simply reverse that color ramp and see how it looks!
nice! i like car design. This shot with bulidings is very fast so its not needed to coment details. overall looks cool . probably you know that but maybe some distance fog effect could make it more real.
