Sculpting human skull in ZBrush

#1

Hey-hey!

I would like to request a crritique and help from the community  This time I post an early sculpt so I can get corrected earlier (unlike the previous sculpt I’ve requested help for on the later stages of the project, were correcttions were hard to introduce).

Please, could you correct me where I am wrong with major proportions? I really cannot get a good advice somewhere outside forums, so any help would be greatly appreciated

And here it goes! Final version! Thanks to everyone who was helping me so much along the way!

Can you share a none perspective front view. We lose a lot of the shape since there is a big perspective. I can see top view that the shape look ok, but just to be sure share none perspective orthographic views

#3

Thank you for answering the thread! )))

Here is ortho of the skull  (an attachment right below the pic contains a much bigger version)

Funny, I also did a sculpt of a skull today. I think maybe your teeth is a bit to wide. Also the jaw needs to have more form in it

#5

I agree teeth could be narrowed, but general shape is good, I am looking forward what will you end up with

#6

This is one impressive sculpt! Esp for a day :)))

Meanwhile, I would like to share my update with you. Soo… how do you find it? Any errors?))

Your getting there. At the front it’s looking kinda there. But on the side need some work. Mostly the jaw. Also under the head is raised higher. Maybe this sketch can help

#8

Thank you veru much

This is extremely helpful! Thank you so much! I can see that I messed up with the jaw big time))) From the side view, it looks like it touches the cheekbone right in the middle of the skull. Mine is moved all the way forward…

By the way, forgot to mention an important thing: I am sculpting a woman’s skull, so it will lack, among other things, a pronounced supraorbital ridge. And I use Skull Sketcher app for reference (a free program where you can rotate a 3d scanned skull, it has two - male and female, very helpful))). Not using real skull image as a backdrop, just looking at it and rotating it.

These are “milestone” screenshots of my reference in perspective view:

Just had a look at proportions of the skull (had to do it earlier))))

Hey-hey! Thanks for the kind words!

Here is my update. I am already thinking about adding another subdivision level and start working on teeth and large details, but it would really help if someone could have a look at it again at this stage. Thank you so much in advance! ^^ ^^

And one more update! Please, if you have time, give me some advice on things that could be improved! I would be endlessly grateful!

I think it’s looking very good Yulia.
You might think about making it less symmetrical.
Making the teeth less perfect, the cheek bones, etc
Then onward to making details.
You are on the right track tho’. Good work.

Thanks for the advice!

Hi Yulia!
This came out really good. I like it a lot. Congrats! :keenly:
I hope to see some more of your works soon

Looks really cool! The teeth look a bit suspicious, maybe they need a bit more definition of form.
