Scripting rigging setups....Advice?

Yeah! Great plugguins Christopher, symmetry tools, ik params, multiparent … and the customizable simpleRigger for lw, how many times I was use it when I did character animation in lightwave!!

thanks for all

is there a way to record a rig proces? like a sava a macro with LW?

example, do a normal skeleton, just the bones, and then record all the nulls, parents, exprecions, etc…

like AC4 for LW?

Hi Pelos, I think it´s not possible into messiah, but it will be a fantastic feature.
A great feature into messiah to create autorigs, is the Activate setup saving, where you can save separated parts of your rig, for example the Spine, the arm, the leg, the fingers … and reaply it to another character, it´s very cool

yes, you do a group and save it as a rig, and then re use it,
the problem of saving a character like that is only the bones are scalables and movebles,
if you have a null that is on the tip of a bone ( and not attach to it) oyu can move it with the bone and keep the position ant the tip,
=( you need to reparent or use a scrip to put it there, so once again you need to redoit, insted just click! and scrip create your rig =)

Ok, I’ve got a pretty nice autorig library going, tested and pretty good. My plan to just use world space nulls to quickly scale my rig to new proportions is almost complete…

There’s one major hurdle left and a couple of polish steps…
I’ve trawled the docs and been checking examples but can’t see how to do the following…
[ul]
[li]How do I get/set bone restlength?[/li][li]Can I rename items from a script?[/li][li]Can I set an effects target object from a script? (bone deform in this case)[/li][li]Can I load a setup from the setup palette from within a script?[/li][/ul](those last two would truly automate the whole process, but are simple enough manually, renaming would just feel a bit neater, but again isnt a showstopper.
