Script - ActiveType

#1

I thought I would plug this for Galagast. He has written a very useful script called ActiveType.

ActiveType @ Scriptspot

This script helps to quickly create objects or add modifiers. When assigned to a shortcut, it will pop-up an input box where you can type in the name of the object that you wish to create , or if you have a selection of objects, it will pop-up a list of applicable modifiers instead.

Cheers,
John

I use Launchy, which is the same thing but for windows, it’s brilliant! Trying that activetype thing now

Kinda nice to not have to click through a half-dozen tabs, drop-downs, and buttons to create something

Thanks for the plug Johnny!

It’s funny that for a long time, this script has always just been one of my “unfinished scripts”. I occasionally use it during work but I was not planning to release it in public because my old implementation was very much a manual process. I wasn’t planning on further improving it because I thought that I had already hit a dead end… but eventually after posting a short usage video of my other script in youtube, somebody emailed me about a “text sensitive pop-up” that I used in the video… after that and a few more emails, it motivated me to find a way to improve the script.

But yeah, the script still has a long way to go, It might take me a while before I get back into finishing up it’s “to do” list.

I probably should have asked first but the thing is so handy…

No worries here, it has been working great, thanks for fixing the scrollbar
