SCIFI 3D - Coruscant Spaceport

If you go back a page or two you’ll see that every building here is nicely mapped already. I was talking with Zorbi about how it seems smoothed, washed-out to me. The buildings lost their feel and see kinda flat now. It’s the lighting tho. So we’ll tweak it once I get together images of all the diff. renders and references to show him what I “think” I’m noticing.

We always try to keep in mind originality. We want to remain true to the reference but we would like to do something diff. here… show something never seen before maybe… diff. time of day… etc.

In the SOTS trailer #2 I tried to take the entire 2 minute trailer from morning, afternoon, dusk, to night. So maybe we’d do something like that here. Take it from dusk to night… and have the lights show up all over. Have to find somebody to animate such a thing tho. Right now Zorbi doesn’t have time I think.

I’ve looked back over your posts and uhm… Where is the foot-in-mouth smiley again? Very nice work though once again.

Page 3 has textured buildings. This is what they look like. The lighting is so intense it kinda gets washed-out.

#63

nice

This is really great stuff and shows that multimillions of polygons are not always needed to achieve astounding results!

Here is our latest test. Everybody is back from the holidays now but it’s slow going. JAS is having problems and his pc is down… but he did this test shot with all the elements like traffic, transports, etc. Lighting is not final. The #1 and #2 buildings in the left foreground were reworked also. Bldg.#1 was completely remodelled to replace Simon’s… but still needs texturing.

#66

This is really one of the best works I ever saw here - awesome!

#67

congratulations to that … its very impressive to see how accurate your working at this. keep it up !

Your work is quite incredible, what program are you using for modeling??, I love the extreme attention to detail… I would really like to get involved, I am pretty good when it comes to modeling buildings, especially if I have reference material but I can work without, you can chech out my current wip thread if you would like to see what I am capable of:

I use lightwave for everything.
Things I can’t do are texturing, organics, and animation, more or less I am just good at modelling. I started out just modelling sci-fi stuff for them most part and worked on some other stuff in my sparetime. I will render some of the low poly fightercraft I have made and you can see what you think.

Regards,
Half

BTW- I would like to help but would also like to finish up my current project first…

We use MAX mostly. Probably like… 60% MAX, 20% LW, 10% Maya/XSI, and 10% the rest like C4D.

You seem to have a good start on modelling… and b/c you use LW really doesn’t matter… but I’d have to see of the better work to figure out if you could fit into our team somewhere. I visited your website and your latest LOTR project is the only attempt at a detailed project I see so far. I’d say to keep in touch and email me pics with what you’re up to. Good luck.

That’s some impressive work. Baby steps to the right thing. And good modelling doesn’t hurt

#72

awesome, how do get such an unbelievable scene lightning and that great colors ???

#73

Read earlier pages about software use, how the main glow was created, the GI renderer used and how it was used.

#74

this is awesome,its great.

#75

Oh my god!
AWESOME!!!

#76

JAS’ redo of bldg. #1.

#77

Zorbi textured the new version with even more detailed textures since it’s one of the bldg’s close to the camera.

#78

WOW !!! amazing, simply amazing. My hats off to you. Another well done building. I can’t wait and see the whole project.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their comments  !!

Once my rig is up and running again, I can finalise modelling, making sure building placement is OK etc … then will pass the scene on to Zorbi for final Lighting and rendering …

Cheers Guys !!
