SCIFI 3D - Coruscant Spaceport

#1

Wanted to share some really kool recent work by Zorbi (Tobias Schmidt) Personal Website . Matthias Mayer built the model with very nice details and Zorbi decided to texture it. You can visit the SCIFI 3D WIP page here to see the modelling progress.

The first pic is a nice rez of the model so you can see how nicely detailed it is. Rendered with Brazil.

Zorbi took the model and textured it using textures from Jedi Knight 2, credit to Lucasarts and the author who we’ll find the name of later on. Zorbi used VRAY because he feels with tweaking VRAY can look just as good as Brazil with a fraction of the time.

Lastly Zorbi took the image and gave it a pass thru Combustion.

I was really pleased with the final look to say the least. Took Zorbi about 3 hours to texture it. Next is to build up some low-poly bulidings to fill in the background.

AGAIN… we’re always looking for help, even with this project. Anybody interested in character work, non-organics, texturing… making low-poly buildings, etc. etc. let us know. Visit the Animations page on SCIFI 3D for a look at our in-house project SON OF THE SUNS.

That rocks…
:buttrock:

I only wish my modeling skills were anywhere near good enuff to get involved, let me know if you need any boxes ermmmm…

#3

Hey… everything starts with boxes and other primatives right. You just need to learn how to manipulate those boxes.

#4

Actually the author of this model seems to have created lots of the smaller objects by simply extruding the polygons of boxes and manipulating them with edit mesh…

Excellent model again, btw

#5

Ahaaaa… ok, away I go then extruding and stuff  (no doubt it will still look like a bloody box though… hehe…)

I would love to see more shots so I off I pop to SCFI 3D for the WIP

Great work guys.

#6

nice detail

#7

Superb modeling, and excellent renders to boot. Is your work hosted over there at theforce.net? I think I seem to remember something like a Sci-Fi 3D link over there, back when I was eagerly awaiting SW episodes…

#8

Looks good, can we get a wire for it, i would like to see how much detail there really is.

#9

This looks realy great! id love to see a wire frame of this image.

Keep up the good work.

#10

Sorry guys. I’ve been working on pumping out a good wire. I’m trying to clone the object and apply a good wire material then use a Push modifier to separate the two objects. It’s not turning out the way I want. If you want to take a shot at it email me and I’ll send the model to you. It’s a 900Kb zip file… 300,000 faces. Fairly detailed.

OH YEA… yes we’ve been on TFN for about 3.5 years. We’re a “feature” or something. It’s hard to see on the main page but we’re prominently linked on the Fan Films page b/c that’s who we’re really working with. They’ve been very good to us.

#11

Wow… Great… Looks huuuuge!

#12

Here’s a wireframe. Not as complicated as the one I was trying to make but it’ll suffice I guess. Simon has decided to continue working on this and do the modelling of the buildings in the background… and Zorbi will texture. Then we’ll have something to put in the FINISHED thread hopefully that can be featured b/c it looks really kool. We’ll add traffic and everything.

#13

Here’s a new image of building #1:

You can look here if you want to see a higher rez of the building. It actually has alot of detail on the top.
Zorbi’s high-rez link

Again… building by Simon… texturing by Zorbi.

Just so people can see exactly what is going on here let me include a reference. Here you can see exactly where this building is from:

#14

looks amazing zoo!! Great texture work, looks very nice. A ton of details. keep up the updates
Brian

#15

The project has taken on-board another modeller… Jas.

Zorbi is the Technical Director for this project and he is out celebrating his 18th birthday. Have till wait till next week to see more of his texturing work. For now Jas has made two new buildings. We need Zorbi’s opinion on exactly how much detail and polygons we should shoot for. The references are pretty blurry and our shot might end up blurring out alot of these details too.

#16

really nice work. I really like how you kept the model so clean. No unnecessary polys.

#17

Yea. It’s always easier to go back later and add more details if Zorbi thinks we need it. Also nice to have somebody who knows how to efficiently model.

#18

this is verry great work:eek:

#19

such a neat 3d scene. Cant wait to see more.

#20

Ys awsome modeling and texturing!

Looking forward to seeing more.
