i tried the link myself,i dont know if you used rapidshare before anyway the process goes…

1:click the free button at the bottom of the page
2:wait for the timer to countdown
3:fill in the imagecode
4:dl

the video is laging abit, i kind of have a slow cpu atm so i couldnt record it smoother. Anyways i hope you like the vid.

i really appreciate your insight. I created this in response to been inspired by your images yesterday  (though not very loose, i know)

speedpaint video

everlite: thanks man  sure i can take a looksie

Well four attempts, correct codes but still it fails. Any other way? maybe only one person at a time can download and it fails if someone else is downloading.

I just did a yahoo answer request and got these as alternative free file hosts if needed:

great work - I love your compositions.

Well that’s what i call speed painting, one frame every 3 seconds hehe.

Shame about the lag, but it’s watchable.

Vista! looks so shiny and slick looking wont work on mine

Really great to see the shapes evolve, when you created the original shape did you know what it was going to be, or indeed what shape it was going to be prior to painting it? like the highlights, were they just random strokes to develope a starting point or did you already know what they were going to be?

Strange i always imagined you had lots of really textured brushes, but you just seem to use the same basic brush all the time.

Cheers, i’m going to watch it a few times. Maybe another one in the future? I really think people would pay to see these paint tutorials, honestly making the exception of the lag they’re very much like some of the Gnomon DVDs.

Cheers again - Dave.

Gord/everlite: thanks

in most cases its just random strokes that i start with, and once i know what shapes to go after i am confident enough to do highlights. In most cases i have a clear image of the whole concept about 5 mins into the painting.

about 80-90% of the speedpainting is painted with a hardedged brush, and if i see the need to texture i use the textured brushes. Also gradients with the softedged brush.

Once i have a faster computer i will make a better vid, and nooo lagging, i kind of feel disapointed that it lags…oh well

Gnomon… drools those guys are insanely good. Would be a dream come true to make ona of those dvds

Seriously i think if you put together (how ever many you could fit) on a DVD people would pay, i would. Just set up a simple free payment system, i think quite a few people are subscribed to this thread so instant success i think

Yeah, shame about the lag, still watchable though, can see the layers and shapes building up.

Cheers - Dave.

#132

speedpainting about um depression?

#133

The last one is awesome…very grim and apocolyptic.

#134

danielh68: thanks yeah i was going for that theme

#135

trying to tone down the contrasts, i kind of likewith this little speed, 1h30min

#136

awesome! design is great on the helmets.

#137

This seems endless! still very amazing. My only suggestion would to try and create a theme or visual story through your images. One thing is been able to paint the above character but could you paint him from any direction in any pose, while still maintaining the same style? I think that could be a challenge

Do you get paid for any of your work? you should.

#138

Wow, I am abosolutly in love with your speed paints. Downloading the video as we speak. Also you should of won the matte painting contest in my opinion.

I like the last one. Everlite is spot on about the dvd, this is the stuff we need to learn imo, not all the high rez rendering and detailing stuff. I would definatly buy it!

I have a question.
Do you decide on the perspective and horizon before putting your random shapes down?

#139

thanks guys! glad you like them

Everlite: yep i get paid

Jack: the first brushstrokes determine the lighdirection and subsequently the perspective. Its not always that i know what i want so i just scribble to get me started.

tonights contrib, hehe yeah a qrazy guy can try lensflare or can i ?:

very inspiring work, looks so very confident. great stuff!! i’ll try and download that vid as well i guess  5star thread
