Looking forward for a round corner shader in EIAS similar to XSI as illustrated in video below to save us time and memory:

Something like that was talked about during the development of EI7… I think it was Dave who was lobbying for it, maybe he can say what happened to the idea…

Hi
I spoke to Igors about this. A “pseudo beveler” for creating specular highlights on hard edges at render time only. I referenced XSI’s ability to do this.
(great link to the movie, thanks!)
This is most useful, since models that are intended to be re-purposed for use in CAD generally SHOULD NOT have rounds on every edge, And many rounding operations are used ONLY to generate speculars along the edges of cubes, etc.
I think the Igors said that some change in the EIAS API was necessary to do this with a shader.
Due to the extra effort “Pseudo Bevel” would require the Scratches shader was created instead
(Thank you Igors!)
I’ll raise the idea again and see if Pseudo Bevel can be developed
Thanks.
Dave
Hi
I allways thought that something like this could be a great time saver in modelling and render times. Hope can be feasible in a not so distant future.
