Rotating view in Rhino 4...

#1

Hello to everybody!

I am very new to Rhino 4 so this question will sound a bit strange.

I would like to rotate the view around the currently selected object. I have yet been able to find out how to do that.

Right now whenever I zoom in on an object to take a closer look or to work in more detail and then try to rotate the view to get a look of the object from another angle my view flies all over the place and I get ‘lost’. I am not sure around what point the view rotates but it sure isn’t the currently selected object. In Cinema 4D it was not a problem to rotate around a selected object, point or polygon. In Rhino I simply can’t find out how it works. I have tried CTRL + RightMoust button, CTRL + SHIFT + RightMouse button and just the Right Mouse button but without success.

I hope somebody can guide me in the right direction as it is a real pain trying to model anything without this ability.

Thanks in advance to all!

go to
menu -> view -> zoom -> selected (or ‘‘selected all’’ - which sets the new focus in all viewport and not only to the currently chosen/active one) - or click the corresponding button in the ‘‘Stadard’’-toolbar.
then the rotation focus is changed to the selected object

another way would be to go to the preferences/options and change a certain option:
menu -> tools -> options -> Rhino options -> view -> check ‘‘rotate relative to view’’
then the rotation focus will always be the center of the viewport and not stay ‘linked’ to and certain object or point after you move/change your view/perspective
