Title: Roberta
Name: Lorenzo Bovo
Country: Italy
Software: Photoshop

Hi folks! …first of all you excuse me about my orrible english, it will be better soon… Well, this is my second work in digital painting, with my little Wacom A6: I have worked with classical PhotoshopCS brushes (except for the dirty drops on the background) on different layers, without use of effects, trying to follow the techniques of the oil on canvas paintings. I hope you like it!
Ah… C&C are welcome!
Bye!!!

Wow, looks great, my only comment is that the transition from realistic to painterly is a bit harsh (her hand doesnt look as good as the rest of her)

#3

this is very impresive work have no complant.

wow… beautiful work… I though that it was a photo… obviously is based on one, but great job. Perhaps, but I agree with Jose…

Hi Lorenzo! Finally you’re on CGtalk  and with something of really amazing!
For me it’s a great job of precision and I like your choice to leave the contours not finished…(and I love those drops!!)
It would be interesting if you could show some steps of your production process.
I wait for seeing you in the front page

Hey Dude! U use insane details on her hair! I very like it! Anyway her shirt’s also great textures. But u could use more sharpen contour… This is more like a painting than a photoreal pic.
Keep it up!

I can appreciate this work more having seen the progress shots. Although I presume you used photographic reference?..

It’s very well painted, however, something really bothers me about this image; the lighting. There is no error, it looks very accurate, its just its makes the image look boring and nothing special in my opinion. Actually, with it being directly illuminated from the front makes it look very much like a quick snap-shot photograph with flash on!

You have good painting skill, and the image could look a whole lot better with different lighting. Directional or low-key lighting for example could have added mood and made the whole image more dramatic.

Good work nonetheless.

By-the-way, I am curious to know why you started painting her in green? Was there any reason? I could understand gray-scale, but I don’t understand; why the green?
