Rig DVD Press Release/FeedBack

#1

Hey Folx,

I need to do a DVD Press Release. As much of a motor mouth I am when it comes to Rigging, I haven’t come up with anything solid to submit to Phil Martin yet. He asked more than once a while ago.

So, I thought I would get some feedback from you guys. I know nothings perfect but I would like some feedback, good bad or indifferent. I hoping people can post their opinion about the Deform Rig DVD on this thread or Email me directly.

I have heard things like “Must-have” and even Phil said someone wrote him to say “it solved everything they were doing incorrectly” then bought a new EIAS license.

However, it sounds a lot better when someone else says it. I like showing my work and talking about artwork religiously but my golden rule is always “let the work speak for itself”.

Ok maybe I’m just being lazy and don’t want to do boring press release when I’m working on cool projects! Whatever.

Thank in advance for you input.

BTW, With the rig project I am working on now…I’m very happy I refreshed myself with rigors of rigging during the DVD.

Hi, Alonzo
Hope to help a little with this, with my crappy english of course!
I had not finish all the tutorials of the DVD right now (the work that i need to do for paying the bills has consumed all my awaken hours) but it´s a great source so far. I can´t wait to continue with it, hope next week:)
But it´s a great material, like looking over your shoulder, and i discovered many things i had doing in the innecesary looong way, or plainly wrong.
I have a two monitors set, then in one your tutos and in the other i repeat steap by steap what you do, is a great learning tool for anybody interested in character animation on EiAS!.
Thanks a lot

Thanks Felix. That’s the way to do it felix. Just repeat that particular portion of the video until you get it. That’s what I do. I tried to go over areas that could be easily misunderstood in various ways.

Hey Guys,

Thinking of a format for an advance tutorial on Spines.

In the last DVD, I rig hands, feet and simple arms. Basically you can plunge this spine into it. I will should you how to do it but not go heavy into a what I have already demo’d.

I can do a simple spine, “ReadyRigs” controller spine, and an inverse kinematics spine. This could be just a mini-download. This setup has many applicantion of than C.A. However it’s a good basis for the arms. Learning the spine will make learning the arms much easier.

Topics:

  1. Constraints
  2. Link Window
  3. Bone Rotaion Axis.
  4. Reducing Gimbal Block.
  5. importing in FCE
  6. Hold Keys
  7. Simple Spine
  8. IK Spine
  9. FK Spine
  10. Animation the Spine “Z” Wave

Unlike before this Video Tutorial shouldn’t be more than 3 hours.

Hi, Alonzo
One for me, please. Do you have any idea how many?
Keep doing tutorials, we all need them.

I have to be honest Felix…I probably haven’t been as excited about tutorial as I am about this one.

I have don’t that spine many times and there was ONE problem that I hadn’t fixed.

Last nite I found it. It’s a consistent solution. I rigged and animated this in no time last nite.

EUREKA!!!

I think maybe start at the same pre-order $55 and then final will be $65 for downloadable this time. (maybe subject to change when completed)

Here’s the Original Post on EITG Public Forurms.

I just did a one of the characters for a client so I won’t be doing that one for a while. BURN OUT !1 haha but was big fun!!!

So this will be the top 3 listed below plus “tail”

I’m very excited about this one. Thank God, finally found the answer to a cool trick.
The spine was only component that I couldn’t get all the rotations axis to align throughout the whole rig. Now its all consist XYZ rotation. Very HAAAAPPYY !!!

I’m considering do a video series of “what I know” about EI rigging. I can put it on DVD or email segments as they are ready.

I’m thinking $120 for a 4 Gig DVD with samples.

Fast Basic Rig

FK Spine
IK SPine
ReadyRigs
Robots.
Tails
MotionBuilder rigs.
FBX Dynamics.
Deformer Rigs
Importing Maya blendshapes and Cloth simulations in EI.

Everything I can think of beginner to advanced.

However, I probably won’t commit unless I have pledges. I’ll set a pre-pay and then I get started. I can’t afford the time without interest or backing. What do you think?

I just reviewed my older videos. Yes, this is going to be a stand alone study specifically on
FK “Natural S spine” with icon controllers which has mulitiple purposes.

I think that CA is of the more excited ways to enjoy the fact of creation. But, for me, is not the focus of my interest. I would like to find just an easy way to get some mocap files into some geometry inside EIU. That´s my hope.

Anyway, if I get time, I´ll try to understand your amazing tutorials.

I don´t know if this point of view can help you but it´s the point of view of someone interested in archi viz.

Thanks !

Gayata,

Can you write me a letter for “EXACTLY” what you need to know about Mocap.
Show me exactly where I can help you understand how to make the process successful for you. Even draw pictures for me if need be and I will come up with a full solution.

I want to get as much info into the mainstream as I can.

BTW, if you don’t have budgets for larger software, then LifeForms by Credo-interactive is EXCELLENT for edition and reusing mocap data. Check to see if the last update will work for you.

Congrats,

Time to have better and better tutorials to EIAS.

Thanks

There was a video from the ReadyRigs DVD that I bumped. I edited out from the DVD.
It dealt with remodeling Geometry in ElectricIMage. The technic can be useful for repurposing geometry.

I thought it was long, and TMI. It wasn’t necessary for the rig but it’s an excellent technique. The file is for those who have purchased the DVD, so it has a prohibitive password. If you have purchased the DVD in the last two days, the file is insert on your shipment.

It wasn’t crucial to the rig process so it won’t effect your work if you don’t have it. Ultimately, that fact governed my decision to leave it out, but there may be a unique situation where it can be very useful. (prep’n mocap, or UVs model prep)

The flle would be considered 13B. (after 13 before 14).

My apologies. The file is bad. I had problems with the zip. So I uploaded it again and must made it free.

It’s not my best episode but it’s a good technic.

Let me know if it DL’s on OK

There’s no password for the one up there. It’s free.

Hi, ALonzo
I just saw your RR FK Spine video… it´s a teaser, itsn´t? looks pretty eficient. Please, do it as complete as you can, information is never too much. And we are not talking about a huge tag here.

FelixCat

Hey Felix.

Not sure what you mean? Yes, this was just a teaser. I hadn’t started it. I had been studying and found a few very important practices, understanding in EI that will greatly reduce gimbal lock and discovered understanding that will great enhance any rig.

I’m a good TD anyhow, but this is info I have been looking for for over 5 years. I did this as a test and immediately I can see the benefits. Again, my rigs were already good. This just was the final icing on the cake.

I’m very pleased with this need rendition of the FK Spine. I feel is as best as I can get it and ready to offer as a practical study product by itself.

If I offer it by itself to things can happen, it can be a faster, shorter tutorial for those who are already advanced in rigging and just want to incorporate the techniques. Also it could it will take less time to produce the DVD and I can charge less. However, it’s a very powerful technique, and the core of my rigging specialities. I can’t just give it away cheap. Like I said, I have been rigging for a long time, and only recently found the last key to a highly optimized controller spine.

The vision is to make the tutorial a study/discussion. It would not be a full rig. I feel I should put the info out there for FK Spine, then IK spine, and then Simple Basic Rig. This way users can choose which way they want to rig and have the resource available to chose from.

What I don’t understand is what you mean by “we are not talking about a huge tag here”.

YOu mean put what info I can, and because the price is already modest, you don’t mind paying extra for it. Like 120? This is the way I perfer to present.

Is this way you mean?

Yes, i think is more honest to everybody and you get an adecuate revenue for your efford, well deserved BTW. Sorry for my crappy english, sometimes i don´t understand myself.
