revisted: Cartoon Eyes! on curved surfaces

#1

Has anyone had any success of animating anime or cartoon eyes along a curved surved?
Your blinks, squints and general eye direction act like they are normal on a standard human face but are exaggerated on a circle or cone like objects.

i belive you also can use a metacage (metalink) bit tricky though, as you cannot model/tweak in layout.

metacage has somewhat the same function as lattice.
(hopefully LW will have this soon)

This is what I am talking about.
I should have already link the Newtek tutorial as that was a given but I need the eye to funtion around/bent along a surface

And I take it the headball will not remain a perfect sphere but deform and the eye should deform with it? (not necessarily stretch with the head but rather stay flush against the surface).

#7

quite easy Julez,… just add more bones to the eye, then bend them in the sideview

#8

that’s tricky to make work i guess…
maybe mdd the animation for then to deform the head at the last stage of the animation…
