Reptile Skin

#1

Hi, I have a drawing that needs a reptile texture of varying sizes etc. and I am not sure what method would be best.

Should I just “Clone” an image of reptile skin over my drawing or use a custom brush? What method works best from your experience and are there tricks to making this look really good?

Thanks

Try google and type in free reptile skin brush for photoshop. I know I’ve seen one somewhere.

in a pinch, the ArchViz libraries of Max have some roof tile textures named “Thermal & Moisture.Shingles.Halfround.jpg” that look like scales. they have a bump map and a diffuse map. Properly tiled, they look very scale-like.

You should concider getting Alien Skin’s Eye Candy 5 Textures plug-in. I’ve found it very useful for generating textures (especially seamless tiling ones) and reptile skin is one of the classes of textures.
