No, it’s not a bug in 2018. I just tried exactly what you described and it works fine. I’m not sure why your end result is coming out so lumpy, but one thing you can try is to subdivide to a higher level before you Dynamesh. I think you’re starting with a mesh that is too low poly.
ya, sorry about that… i had posted on zbrush central and got a response there. i was actually using remesh not dynamesh… dynamesh seems to work better.
it really has to do with how it is handling poles now with triangles… seems that the tutorial was made in 4R5, and perhaps something changed since then.
I found an old post here with the exact same issue, but they were using 4R7 at the time and was experiencing the exact same problem:
