rendering with messiah

#1

Hi

I am trying to render a composition with a background picture. I attached a texture map to the environment (a sky) and a texture map to the background. It renders well but my problem is that both texture maps, the one for the environment and the one for the background are uses for radiosity. Is it possible to use only the environment texture map for radiosity calculations without the background texture. But the background picture must be rendered.

Best regards.

I think that you must get a false impression here. The background isn’t taken into account for radiosity or reflections or anything else than to display a background.

Thanks for the answer

Oh, I didn’t know that. But when I disable the background the render looks different. Environment is the same.

This is probably just an illusion then, the background shouldn’t affect the lighting/reflection, etc at all. The environment on the other hand does affect the render, that’s what it is for

OK I understand.

Thanks again for the information.
Do you know by the way how to attach a reflectivity texture to a material?

You mean apply a reflection map to the reflection channel of a material? Right click in the shader flow and create a texture map node. Connect it’s color output to the reflection input of your material and load your reflection map into the texture map node. Set the blending operator to what suits you.

Thank you very much for the help.
