Rendering vector animations for Flash

#1

I’ve asked this years ago, but I thought I’d see if there was any progress in Blender rendering out vector animations that can be imported into Flash so that the Flash file size is as small as possible?

Sometimes you have to ask in the right place, then dig a bit… Over on the BlenderArtists.org site, there is a long thread related to the development of the Freestyle branch for Blender. This is a line rendering program addition. It does have a set of Python modules that are specifically made to output SVG, a vector format that should work for Flash related import. Currently the SVG module is not integrated into the Freestyle Branch, but the developer has on a few occasions promoted his scripts for this and hopes to eventually include them in the active branch. Good luck with your hunting.

Oh really cause I’ve been using Freestyle but only rendering out as png’s. It’s so hard to find stuff in that long post so I’ll have to do a search in it and suss out the vector side of it. Thanks paulhart.

I know, that thread has gotten way long, with all kinds of goodies buried inside, but a bit difficult to actually find anything. I found this link.[HERE] which was referenced on page 71 of the BlenderArtists.org thread [HERE].

Hmm am I missing something, I don’t have a SVGWriter tab in the Render button which is mentioned in step 6 of the Animation Rendering, after installing the python files ie…

“6. Go to the SVGWriter tab in the Render buttons, specify an output SVG file name, and press the Concatenate Frames button. This results in an SVG animation clip file stored in the output directory.”

I wonder if this is because I’m using 2.58?
