Rendering instanced Geo

I’m trying to render an occlusion pass of my scene on a render layer but when I add my trees to my occlusion render layer they will only render black in that layer?

The trees are paint effect trees converted to polys and then instanced.

The tree file is referenced into my scene.

Is there a work around for this?

Try first Render this without Render Layers. if its ok.
Try setup Your Render layer as global.
if it not work try in new render layer setup AO material manual.

I set my render layer as global and my trees are no longer black! Thank you so much! :beer:
