Does anybody know of any websites or books that focus on anatomy for different body types, like ectomorph (as thats the one im mostly looking for) rather than the average figure.

I’ll have another ponder through these pages again tomorrow to see if i can find anything, but it would be cool if anyone knows straight off.

cheers

I think your best bet is body building books ~ here are results from Amazon.com, using the search term ‘ectomorph’:

Amazon.com search results for Ectomorph

And just for the interested:

From http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/becker3.htm
The three body types are further described below.

ECTOMORPH

fragile
thin
flat chest
delicate build
young appearance
tall
lightly muscled
stoop-shouldered
large brain
Has trouble gaining weight.
muscle growth takes longer.

MESOMORPH

athletic
hard, muscular body
overly mature appearance
rectangular shaped (hourglass shaped for women)
thick skin
upright posture
gains or loses weight easily
grows muscle quickly.

ENDOMORPH

soft body
flabby
underdeveloped muscles
round shaped
over-developed digestive system
trouble losing weight
generally gains muscle easily.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Thank you to monica-taddei for this incredible link!

The Hunterian Museum in London

It has an incredible database:

SurgiCat
http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/default.aspx

The SurgiCat Search Page
http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/search.aspx

It allows you to search the museum database, I tested it and ran a search for ‘skeleton’, and retrieved this:

http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/brief.aspx

You can zoom in and click through a set of related pictures:

Great resource!!!

Artistic Anatomy books by Gottfried Bammes, as well as figure drawing books by Jack Hamm, Loomis and many others…

#98

Good looks. I’ll use these tonight & post the finished product inside my Sketchbook thread.

Another interesting link is gettyimages:

http://creative.gettyimages.com/source/home/homeCreative.aspx

The database is orgainsed by keywords, so you can search for hands, feet, “face profile”, “old man”, etc. Resolution is kinda low, but it’s very useful anyway.
