I am writing a Painter book and would like suggestions for any really incredible Painter artists and experts that I might include.

I had never known of Susi Lawson and she is PERFECT for the Photography section! I sent her a note. We will highlight about 16-20 artists from around the world with different styles and stories. Lots of images, tips and techniques too.
Ryan Church and Nick Harris are amazing artists. I am hoping that all 3 will participate. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Justin Sweet and Ashley Wood comes to mind. Hyung Tae Kim is popular although I’m personally not the biggest fan. Terada Katsuya is well-known as a Painter artist too. There are other artists who use both Painter and Photoshop (and this in fact is a very popular combination–I do that myself) such as Craig Mullins and Korea’s Paper Blue.
All successful working artists I’ve known for years, who use Corel Painter and have since before I met them:
Since before Painter 1 was released, one of the original authors of Painter, Artist, Author, Workshops, Painter Brush Design
John Derry - PixelArt - Art, Photograpy, and Workshops
and The PixelBlog
Corel Painter Brush Designing Master, scripts, and other resources
David Gell - Jitter Brush

Lisa Peruchini
Childrens’ Book Illustrator, teaching/training, writing, speaking
Mike Reed:Visual Artist

Tim Jesselland Amorak, my favorite part of Tim Jessell’s site -
And, of course, the Painter Masters, list available on the Corel site,
Painter 11 pages:
One of my favorite Painter Masters is missing from that page but his art can be seen on the Painter 11 welcome screen with other Painter Masters:

Eric Scala - Scala
Jinny
Good links there, Jin, all of them, thank you. I’ve bookmarked Chet Phillips and Tim Jessell, both excellent.
Hi Joe,
Yes, I love both Chet Phillip’s and Tim Jessell’s work. Did you take time to look at Tim’s Amorak page?
Jinny
Yes, I did, Jinny. Work of great quality. I’d looked at the book before in bookshops but I hadn’t registered the illustrator’s name but now I have.
I am very appreciative of the help in locating Painter artists. There is so much talent! We will also look at the websites of those that recommended too. I hope this book is going to be a hit. I wrote one like this for Poser (Secrets of Poser Experts). It will include LOTS of great artwork, techniques, tips, a DVD of content (it doesn’t have to be just from the artists in the book, so if you have anything you want to share…) and insights from the Painter Experts.
I love Painter, though I am not an artist. I worked at the ground level of Painter when Fractal Design first launched Painter 1! I will never forget the first time Mark Zimmer and Tom Hedges showed me the first strokes of painter on the screen. It was REVOLUTIONARY. My jaw dropped. I still get chills! Oh, we also had layers BEFORE Photoshop. Paint on!
I think I have a fairly different use for Painter other than straight art expression. You can see how I’ve used Painter professionally here.

I hope it gives you an idea of an out of he box use of Painter.
I use the illustrations for contact with my clients and it’s been a useful tool for me for over 15 years. I was featured in Cher Pendervis’s last three Painter WOW books.
All the best,
Tom
He did indeed have a tutorial in the first issue of Digital Artist, covering combining Painter and Artrage to create a nice fantasy landscape and cloudscape. I was also lucky enough to have some of my stuff in subsequent issues.
Simon’s website is at: http://www.painterly.co.uk/
and my own humble one is at http://johnmalcolm1970.co.uk
Sounds like an interesting book.
Hey! I’ve seen your work before on the web and in mags… I love it… especially the steam punk one with the musket type gun…
Cheers
Ken
Thanks very much Ken. I am still relatively a beginner at getting stuff published, but I like to think I’m getting better with age and (more importantly) practice.
