Here I was, thinking ‘hey, that image looks very real… though perhaps-…’ and then I read the text and made a fool out of myself
You really should read the rules of CGtalk. You have three posts in the LW tutorial forum, that aren’t tutorials. :hmm:
And not to mention, if you are going to make a CG watch then don’t waste you time and make a Seiko.:banghead: Perhaps a nice Rolex or a Bretling…
An image like that is going to require a very detailed model with strong surfacing, lighting and understanding of render settings in LW, not just a quick metal surfacing treatment.
You need top be a bit more specific about where you are with this project, and what your next steps are to get some focused crit’s and comments.
Give us a bit more insight please and I’m sure everyone here will be more than willing to help out
Cheers

Thanks Buddy for showing your interest in my subject that I was deeply searching for, I could really work it out in stages, at least I got to know that there is a great role for lighting and shaders, there has been a good examples for the Plugin IFW2 its really a fantastic plugin that can help reduce a bit of load to reach the level I was looking for.
I agree with you on all your points, I might have skipped your points that are details of the model, surfacing and lighting which really make a great difference to the output you are looking for after rendering an Object or a model.
What made me post such thread is because while surfing the web I read some of the great shaders that gives a great difference to your model when rendering, example VRAY for 3Dmax and Renderman for Maya, I thought that there might be some engine as well for Lightwave which will make life easy.
I would love to here more from you guys and I thanks you all for all yours comments.
Look this image by v!0:
(sorry, don’t know the name of the artist)
render is longer but according to the author, he/she used HDRI, 4 lights and hand painted textures to get that result; so reconsider that you need other render engine, since some people won’t have problems to do something like your reference image just with LW render engine, even without any commercial plugin.
Perhaps you don’t find a step by step tutorial about what you want to achieve, but maybe you might want to post your progresses and to request feedback and suggestions about techniques/tricks or tuts for each phase (modelling, texturing, surfacing…)

Wow Thanks buddy… That is truly fantastic render and piece of art.
that’s true I have to post my work even though it looks Ugly and make others pass their valuable comments and try to improve according to the views and suggestions I get.:arteest:
I think we can get good feedback according to the way we outline a question. Begin with modelling issues, if you feel stuck; isolate and show one problem at a time, request suggestions for those specific cases, once you have solved it, show that finished stage and continue with texturing or lighting, surfacing, etc.
I think most people find interesting to see the progress of each stage in a complete and orderly way, mainly because a thread like that becomes into a sort of tutorial or info source

Area lighting can help, as well as HDRI. I find that a combination of both often works well.
And, in LW, be sure to blur the reflection for the metal - it can result in an “aluminum” type look.
