Random 'Noise' Tool?

#1

Is there a script, or even a default Modo tool, that will allow me to easily create random ‘noise’ deformations in an object?

I am thinking something along the lines of the Cinema 4D Crumple tool, which deformas an object by effectively moving the verts about randomly within a specified radius. It is really easy to create cobblestones and timber planks using this tool.

The reason I need to know is that I am creating a set for a project I have coming up that requires wood planks that appear warped. Is there a script somewhere that will allow me to do this, or do I have to do it manually for each plank (about 50 of them). I need each plank to appear unique.

Set your falloff to noise - you can adjust the scale. If you want to see what it looks like select ‘show falloff’ under the view menu and zoom out a little and the fractal pattern will become apparent (you can adjust the scale then).

The just transform or push your objects and it will ‘warp’ throught the noise field.

That’d be Jitter, Edit->Deform->Jitter.

EDIT: leuey’s method is better, use that :slight_smile:
