Hi everyone, I’m back! Thanks for all the comments!
Virtuoso: Thanks, there were very nice entries in this challenge!
Alice, good to hear you enjoyed it! I saved 4-5 progress pics for this, I’ll post 'em tomorrow. Didn’t have time 4 days ago.
Thanks Oz, it’s your entry that ROX!
Lildragon, I’m very glad you like it, I’ll definitely enter the next challenge if I’m not too busy!
I was in hurry and didn’t notice I posted this in the wrong category
Just came home only a few hours ago so I couldn’t post it in the challenge site.
Wildsheepchase: Thanks
I’ll post the first sketch and some progress pics tomorrow… you’ll be surprised at how different they look from the final piece!
Joril, great to hear the compostion does it’s job, I worked quite some time on it to make it work!
m@: thanks
Grub: Don’t tell anyone but the werewolf was first even bigger giant hamster hahaha… I was sketching on paper when this idea of a gigantic hamster attacking
helpless village came into my mind, I first drew it on paper and then started painting it on the computer. I couldn’t make it look even half scary so I morphed the hamster to a werewolf
Slacker, thanks!
I made some small changes, thought the foreground elf was too big so I reduced the size of it and made put him into a pose that reads easier. Also refined the whole pic from here and there. Overall I really enjoyed doing this painting, it wasn’t too easy or too challenging. (+much bigger resolution on this one, the original was painted at 2000xsomething)
The story: Long after most elves had left Middle-Earth (some stayed) and the passage to Valinor was closed, the great Valar was almost forgotten… One of the last wizards called Radagast is feeling a strange temptation for power… nobody is aware that he got corrupted by the dark powers hunderds of years ago when dark lord Sauron controlled his friend Saruman. Sauron and Saruman were both killed but the root of darkness cannot be destroyed. Melkor, god of darkness, was locked outside the earth by his brothers so he couldn’t get free, but his influence is growing once again and Radagast is the key he’s slowly gaining control of, the key to his freedom. Time of dragons and balrogs ended thousand years ago, but the time of werewolves is here.
I need to get some sleep now… watched 14 movies while I was on the trip in Helsinki
