Defintly the one on the right. Like Joril said, looks more real.

:bounce:
The One On The Left has really nice shading on body but too much specularity on face…

The One On The Right has the correct shading on face but body looks too shiny…

… there u go !!! :bounce:

#221

thanks for your advices all !

i think for the final images, i’ll finally keep both of them for a composition with different clones

here’s an update with the lightening :
I need more specular again… Thanks for your image Dimitris

Something about him was bugging me… now I know, he reminds me Robbie Williams;) , this British popstar… can’t spot any single placa, maybe except mouth area…

My thoughts on all three characters: The first seems too 2D to me.I just think it’s a waste to create in 3D and then make the character look 2D in those shots.Too washed out, painted looking, excellent work but just would have been better without the 2D look in my opinion.
As for the Troll type beast: I don’t care for the mouth. It’s open all the time.It seems like he has some device in his mouth that keeps it open all the time.It would be nice to see some versions where his mouth is closed or half opened.
This last character : Does look like the “LOVE CHILD” of Robbie Williams and Golem.

Other than that: I think the modeling is really well done. The texturing is very good. The amount of work is very impressive. This entry is one of the best in the challenge.
I just had to voice my true opinions. There are things that bother me,but they are just taste things,As for talent, you Strike have a lot of it.
In the end,it’s a great overall entry.

About Ar-Lum, it was my goal to make a 3D character looking 2D, it’s almost thanks to particules and draw textures that this one is looking like that, but as i said : it was my goal.

For Wynrorn : I modeled him like this, and it will take alot of time to make his mouth closed for me, coz i have some troubles with animation  … Anyway, i know what you mean, and it would have been great to have different version  but after all Wynrorn is bad, and always yelling across fangorn forest, so it was for me the way for you to see what’s his main expression.

About Gal-Dig : yea i agree… but like alot of humanoid of its size. Anyway, check the final images in a couple of weeks and then you’ll tell me about him

Thanks for your constructive critics, and nice words :buttrock:

Well this time, i worked a little more on lights and textures, and just a little bit on bones. I didn’t have time to put bones on fingers, so here’s just a little test.

I finish with the plug of OGO_Taiki for the volumetric sky. This time is my last image. I just wanted to send a message on this last one. I will not tell anything about it, but you’ll have your own opinion about it.

Anyway, in this one, imagine the fall of Isengard, and all those drillers going back home… But where are their homes ? :surprised

#228

Very nice work strike!!!..but you HAVE to put bones in those fingers… hands can have so much expression…aside from his stiff fingers an absolute wonderful job!!! :applause:

#236

wow! awesome work ! what modeling style do you use ? do you have background references and you model point by point or do you box model ?? thanx! good luck !!

#237

Hi Strike…:wavey:

I just wanted to come in and say i think your efforts for this challenge have been excellent. It's been really fun seiing all of your creations.Three of them, and all speacial in ther own unique ways.

I look forward to a final shot,I wonder what you have in mind? either way i think it will be really well done and great to look at.Once again Bravo for some great models and very fine showcasing of your skills.

 :applause:  ..........All for your three creations...........

Thanks virtuoso, it was a pleasure to be in this one. And also a pleasure to see some people appreciate it as well

Anyway, i think this time will be the last for me. This thread had alot of views and answers during the last 2 months, but not the goal i hoped. … Three different characters in so less time was for me a kinda challenge for myself, and i enjoyed alot doing that, but maybe quality is not really here… well my thought… I think modeling is a thing, but giving a soul to a model, and try to make the other people think about an image is something else… I don’t think i found the good forum to talk about what represent the real way to create.

So… Bye all, and please : don’t vote for me coz that’s not my goal

I still have a wip deep in the wip area, for those who are interested in

Open your mind. Don’t wait the others to feed yours…
