This time there is no new render…
although. i have been playing around with this lil animation.
I thought i had to test this movement.
Keep in mind that its the first time i animate a character.

haha nice little animation for a first time doing it =)

#57

could we take a look on youre texturemaps?

#58

hey manfred, my old friend!

youre model looks really sweet, but I think it could use a little help to push it over the edge and give it that little extra bit of detail that really sells it.

I dont claim to be any expert but I’m just gonna mention the things that stick out to me.

first thing I would do would be to look at it objectively and try to imagine youre model in an ACTUAL scene of LOTR. Ask yourself what is it missing? Are the textures as good as the ones seen in the movie, look at the layers of detail they have on orcs and other critters. also look at the level of modelling detail in the movie and compare it to yours.

The orcs, for instance, have tons of miscellaneous attachements and primitive looking jewelry or weapons, random dirt or paint;
I also think that the insides of the elbow joint and the knees could use a little more detailing to sell it. Maybe some veins in the arms, his arms look very strong despite his belly, so maybe detail out the arms just a bit more. maybe increase the hand size just a bit.

But this is by far one of the best models I’ve seen you do, great job!!! good luck in the competition!

Oh come on, how fancieless is that? Why does he need to use the movie for reference? His own interpretation is what is relevant, not the Weta interpretation don’t you think? Whats with some sort of comic interpretation, is that totally wrong just because it doesn’t look like the Weta version?

Hope you know what i mean…

#60

wow, blasted for my opinion…imagine that…

my apologies manfred

…disregard everything I said…
granted I have not read your entire post, but if you are truly going for a comic or stylized version, then you got it down bro…

I do believe my crit clearly defined that it was MY own PERSONAL opinion…

#61

nonono i didn’t want to annoy you, there where just my thoughts about it, you made yours, and these where mine :stuck_out_tongue:
maybe he thinks like you, but i guess if he wanted that style maybe its good like it is, and it has not to loke like the Wetastyle, its just a matter of personnel taste i guess

this was no attack against YOUR own PERSONAL oppinion, just my thoughts about your post, maybe you are right and i am wrong, and maybe me english is just too bad and you don’t even understand what i was trying to say

hope you don’t mind…

#62

kindergarten

neox, nothing to work? :scream:

#63

manfred is an old friend, since I am not participating in this challenge his is the ONLY thread I have commented on because he is a friend.

I meant no offense…and none taken…all is well in the CG world:)

#64

cool work

that wooden armor is a great idea.

#65

looks cool all the way:bounce:

The only thing i would like different is the texture on his shorts…but that is just me…

He will be fun to animate!!!

#66

Thanks for your comments!

Titan: I know what you are saying. I myself think that he does lack some more details and and “stuff”. But i have no idea what to add.

DimitrisLiatsos: I share your oppinion about the shorts  I’ll see what i can do.

Took a break from the Murdûk. Meanwhile i have been working on the environment that i will place him in.
C&C welcome.

#67

Another test

#68

Fetus: Things’ll come

#70

Hi …great grass …just make it more dark and less luminant…i think!!!:wavey:

#71

looks cool! maybe you can place him closer to the edge so it looks more like he’s looking out over the see

#72

DimitrisLiatsos: Thanks, i made it more yellowish. I’ll probably add different kinds of grass and some flowers.

Dreamwave: Nah, i dont think i want to make him look out over the sea… he dont like water

I have made the grass more dense so the edge of the rock in this pic wont be there when i have rendered the latest render.

#73

:bounce:

flowers and some plants would be great!

I will try to find some ref pics for u of seaside cliffs with plants!:wip:

#74

Looks good. I like that grass.
