Races of Middle Earth - character - lildragon

The head, chest and upper legs, look quite good.
The rest needs some more work obviously.

I was wondering, what is it with maya and 4+ point polygons? The mesh looks really irregular.
Sharp groin too :surprised

Anyways, I’m looking forward to more updates!

Yeah didn’t really have time to “smooth” out the mesh yet, still blocking in details but I know what you mean  as for the groin, I’m not to worried about it, since its never going to be seen

Looking forward to when u add the armor etc details
Great work!

Thx Michael  okie here’s some work I done today, his hands, and I also corrected his posture, so he’s not falling backwards anymore. Also fiddled with the details some… so as it stands final detailing coming up and then it’s unto armor plates :wip:

This is starting to rock! i love the those qauds man. very slick and sexy. I love the size og shi neck in comparison to his head, and the whole flow of that particular area. Very slick.

Can’t wait to see him textured and walking around flexing his muscles. Maybe even gettin in an arm wrestle with kar.

My one critique is that the model seems a lil taller and less stalky than the concept. I like the general size of the concept more. But thats just my crazy ass opinion… :surprised :scream:

keep us posted…

Yeah he isn’t as stalky, its because I had to model him in this upright position to make rigging easier  but rest assure he’ll be hunched once rigged

Thx much man, and for those watching I’ll be starting on the armor next, I’m finished here this was the easy part :argh: now it’s time to accessorize and kick some bootay!

Its funny, but ive been browsing around reading some of the general discussion stuff, checking out the gallery, and watching the challenge, and half to say. CGTALK has kept you pretty busy, along with that you still have time to model and learn another apt! FANTASTIC! btw, MAYA is in my opinion the best all around 3d software on the market right now, besides XSI, give it a couple months and youll see what I mean. The renderer is not the best though, unless you purchase mental ray. Keep up the great work in the forums and know we all got your back, your model is really coming along, I will look forward to a next armor update!

Really coming along very well Lildragon. The heavy armor leg plates look well defined, nice shape to them as well.Looks like the heavy muscle will get some good company with some detailed heavy armor.

Perhaps a armor mohawk that curves along the top portion of the head tapering down to and just below the neck could be a extra nice detailed armor plate, it might go well with the unique shape of the head and neck regions.

It's looking rather bad arse I must say.Tough,rugged,strong.Are the first thoughts that spring to mind.

As you might recall Lildragon we sprang onto the Maya train at about the same time,so we shall grow together,Max is still working alonside Maya however,I'll always have a place for it.My Brothers love is XSI with Max and Maya, greedy bastard.

                     ;)

I am using Mental ray with Maya,I still prefer V-Ray or Brazil and Final render for Max however. In case you missed this maybe this could be another option for you,it's Gi Joe for Maya. Here is a link,I like it,it's fake GI but does the job rather well.............http://www.3dluvr.com/pixho/

Well keep up the great work,I am looking forward to more from you,I don't know how or when you you get the time, but it's working for you.

I love the armor on the legs. My only suggestion would be to define the wrists more if they are not going to be covered up. Great so far though.

#73

Oh ya…this guys got power!!..Really nice modeling so far lildragon  …and the armor is coming along very well!!
I’m waiting for your updates!! :wip: :wip: I second the arm wrestling with kar!!

Wow that armour plating look good really adds some detail to his bulk

#75

The plate armour on his foot is not practical if you will be setting up a foot roll on the leg later on. You may want to segment it .
Thats assuming it is plate metal and not leather or somn’ flexible.
Cool model though

someone was a busy bee

thanks for making me feel bad tito , i gotta update mine now.

the armor looks very nice :buttrock:

great work lildragon

#78

OOO, veery nice =), hmmm make my model look veery simple =D.
How have you modeled it? Did you use poly smooth proxy?
GL in the competition, may the best beast win =D

Hey lil! Looking great - only comment would be to perhaps concetrate on the joints, in particualar the shoulder (the clavical just seems to get burried and stop short) and elbow/wrist, the musculature is great - but in these areas the majority of structure comes fomr the bone.

Of course it’s hard to judge joints until they’re Rigged!

see you,
