Races of Middle Earth - character - Leigh

#163

Either is fine…I like the additional layer.:applause:

#164

Yeah it looks better, but it was already very good…

Oh, wait, there is even another page full of posts… you’re gonna break all records

Personally I like the one on the right better but both are fine.
I like the ghosty render you did very much! :wip:

#165

Wow! You’re fast!!! If you decide to do it ghosty (very cool looking) you’ve almost finished! Incredible.

But I know you’re going to enjoy texturing it so… I preffer the right color scheme, but I would suggest you to make the armor less dark. I don’t know, more white it will give her a friendly aspect… I’m not sure. just wondering.

Anyway, you’re a machine… keep it up.

#166

Wow Leigh!! You are amazingly fast! I love the ghostly render and out the colored ones, I like the one on the left.

#167

 Leigh!! How can I compete with you now!!!

I’m going to my post and cry.:cry::cry:

#168

looks very nice

but I don´t like the proportions … the legs seems to be a bit too long and the upper-body is still too thin … especially the back of the torso have to be much wider!!

I love that armour. You rock Leigh :bounce:

#169

The right one!!!For sure… :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

#170

I like the left one better, but maybe have one of the fabric layers a darker navy blue to make the image richer.

Looking forward to seeing the war-torn/wraith elf!

#171

I agree with what m@ said about the head, it would look better if it where a bit smaller. it would make him look stronger and more powerful. the hand looks a bit to thin to, more flesh there would be cool, warriors have strong hands, no? maybe not elven wraiths, I’m not an expert
small things… nonetheless, what I’m really looking forward is the texturing stage. there I’m sure I’ll learn a few things from you!

oh and sorry if I repeated someone/something. the thread is just to huge to read through!

nice to see you in leigh, sorry for not saying it earlier. to many entries to keep track on.

looking forward to more goodies
take care

#172

Leigh, your Wraith is amazing, even before you’ve textured it. Since you’re a goddess, can I worship you now?

#173

Getting better and better:buttrock: … I’ll vote for the desaturated one…

I’m glad that fellah sees the same thing that me about the head (but I don’t agree with him for the hands, slender hands are just right for an elf, even more if he’s a wraith  )…I’m not the only one… . try and post a render with a slightly smaller head, 95% or something like that.

Also, I like the new belt position.

#174

dang it! I’ll be the bad guy… which sucks because I think this model rrrrules.

The hands look really boxy still, they could use some refining. The way the fingers bend is still a bit sharp as well (eek, Leigh’s gonna hate me)

The cloth/dress looks good, but the way it puffs out at the knee area is kind of akward. It makes his upper torso look weak. personally (gulp) so I think you should widen the shoulders to give a more masculine look.

I’m really gonna stop talkin now!

(hides back under a rock)

Thanks so much for all the comments, everybody - you all rock! :xtreme:

Not sure if I will have an update today, because I am working on my book

Just to reply to comments…

Faraguay - by the time the textures are done, the armour will be pretty old and discoloured anyway

Grugi - I intentionally distorted some of the proportions to make him appear less human. Especially with the leg length - because he’s an elf, I though it might be cool to emphasise his height be lengthening his legs. He is 1.8 metres tall.

fellah - I’ll try making the head a wee bit smaller, and see how it looks  Thanks!

m@. - smaller head coming soon  And yeah, I also prefer the new belt position

That Adrian Guy - THANKS!! Thank you VERY much for that - I was just waiting for someone to mention the crappy hands! I hate the way they look! I’ve been meaning to tweak them, but just haven’t gotten around to it! They are so damn boxy that I’ve just being doing my best to ignore them up until now hehehehehe…
As for the skirt - I kinda made it a bit puffy to imply some kind of movement… perhaps I should tweak it though… I’ll also bring the shoulders out a bit - thanks again for your suggestions  Very appreciated!

To everyone else - thanks so much for all the kind comments, there are too many to reply to individually! I’ll be going with the colour scheme on the right then!

wow look grgeat leigh!!
one thing ive allways noticed about you, you take people suggestions and listen to there ideas, thats a great thing to posses,

cant wait to see this things final!

#177

Hm. Which thread to read? 1 page, 2 page, 1 page, 12 pages.

You make me so jealous. From you’re first armor post, I felt like inflicting self-harm. Please don’t call the cops this was a joke> I repeat, this was a joke. (you have to be careful if you live in the US)

Anyways, lookin smooth. I wish I could model like that. Wait a second. I wish I could model at all…

#178

mlabrams - Thanks! And yes, any person who does not heed the useful advice of others is a stubborn fool  I always need suggestions, or else I wouldn’t be posting!

arjun - you are too kind  And what’s this “I wish I could model” crap??!! - go get in there and get some polys into place dammnit!!!

Anyhoo, here’s another render… Bigger shoulders, smaller head… I actually also lowered the helmet so that it fits more snugly onto the head.

#179

cool

#180

Lookin Awesome!

#181

I’d unify all the leather pieces - if you hadn’t planned to already anyway.

I think all the subtle changes have really shaped this guy.

#182

Love the armor! Is it going to stay ultra shiny like that though?

Good work Leigh:thumbsup:
