Damn you Leigh!
The contest’s just started and already the whole armour is nearly finished??
DO YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT SLEEPING? :surprised
I bet you don’t!

Anyway - great idea (even appropriate elvish name :applause: ) with the elvish wraith. I wonder what he looks like when all is finished.

Good luck

#62

#65

Brilliant work Leigh…really like the armor…nicely done…keep it up:thumbsup:

#66

My god, such progress, wonderful stuff

#67

Leigh, how did you model the armor? Did you use spline, the thickener plug-in or something else? It looks really good, I think you keep getting better quickly.

Make sure the proportions are right before you keep going tho, looks a big long. If you notice an error proportion-wise later on it will be difficult to correct with all the detail.

#68

I c you have a keen eye or detail,
This is looking great, can’t wait to c you fill the aromor with this wisp like body.

Although I think the proportions are right and the armor wil substain a wisp like body. ANd don’t know if it is your intention.
But I can’t get the feeling away that tells me that the contour of the body is a bit to vertical/ thin.
I would say that it is arround the hips were a bit more volume might give it a less thin look…
Can’t put it better into words…
The middel one of the three armors in you last picture gives me the impresion I try to explain…

Edit: seems likePhil ā€œOsirusā€ posted the smame at the same time

#69

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions, most appreciated

Phil ā€œOsirusā€ - I just model from scratch, and then kinda wrap the polys over at the edges to form nice edges for the armour
I almost always tend to model poly by poly. I use mainly Extender and Bandsaw to model.

And yeah, there is a bit of an issue with the length. I’ve made the torso a little more squat now, but I want to try and maintain an Elf like statue to him - which is kinda tall.

Iguiniz.X. - thanks for the suggestions  Yeah, I need to increase his hips, thanks for reminding me

#70

well that’s looking good, you’ve already got the crits on the hieght to breadth thing so that’s not a lot i can add axcept that it would look cool with an old torn generals cape or something billowing out behind.

#71

Thanks mdme_sadie, I’m trying to fix this now
Oh, and he’s going to have a nice big billowing cloak soon

Okay, I’ve wteaked the plates around the hips so that they all angle out more, providing more movement for the Elf, as well as increasing his thickness a bit. I need to change the skirt part still though.

#72

Wow, I cant believe I didn’t see this earlier!
My god, the work you’ve done in such a short time is crazy!

Do you ever sleep?!?!

I agree with the crits about the proportions.
But other than that, a very promising start!

Keep it up,
-DivideByZero-

#73

Yeah…ya may sleep a bit!!!

Amazing work, again!!!

Cheerz:beer:

#74

I like the elongated torso personally, it gives it a decidedly non-human look that I really enjoy. I think the low rise skirt piece of the armor makes the proportions look further off than they actually are. Looks cool though, I really like the Eastern feel to the armour

#75

continueing to be amazed…thought you were a texture gal not a modeler…

#76

DivideByZero - thanks! Hehehe, actually this is only about 8 hours of modelling
And yeah, of course I sleep - it’s just not bedtime yet!

Tommy Lee - thanks!

lowdown - I actually also like the torso elongated. Also, since it’s a wraith, it might be cool to have an elongated look, because ghosts always seem to be too long - the proportions do indeed make it look less human. And yeah, it is the low cut of the skirt which creates the illusion that the torso is even more elongated than it is - those are his shins sticking out the bottom!
Thanks for the compliment!

Remi - thanks a lot!

And here is another update!

#77

JESUS Leigh! do you ever take a break!?
so so good

#78

Well only 8 hours though? Now I’m sure I should quit with 3D, no chance to get THAT fast

One word: wonderful!

#79

Hey there leigh,

Although I haven’t entered yet (have to finish up some work), I am probably going to be doing a spirit creature to. I am a little bit worried about the ethereal aspect of a ghost. So what I am basically saying is, I’ll probably be asking you how you did yours when you get there:p

Can’t wait to see this one finished, it’s shaping up really nicely (and only two days in:eek: )

keep:wip: :wip: :wip:

#80

Dirk_P_Ho - breaks are for people who are tired! I have some energy left!! Thanks

ahrens - nah, see it as encouragement

Apt Pupil - Cool to hear that someone else is doing an ethereal character! And yeah, of course I’ll be sure to help you out in any way that I can

HellRender - it’s a magical substance called coffee!!

And here is another update for tonight! (Well, actually it’s morning now :p)
The great thing about modelling a head in a helmet is that you only have to model the face!!!
The actual body (arms, hands, legs and head) still need a lot of tweaking - at the moment, they are sort of generic limbs, which I will then tweak to suit my character

Oh, and in this render I’ve added some guides to show the limb sizes - as I mentioned earlier, that skirt kinda makes the body look an odd shape, so I added those guides to show where the actual body parts are
