Races of Middle Earth - character - Leigh

#21

Definately eagerly awaiting the unveiling of this!

#22

ya, an Elven Wraith, that sounds like it’ll be great… I look forward to seeing the WIP on this one!!

Thanks kindly for all the supportive words again

Okay, here is a description of what I am making…

The idea of this character is an Elven Wraith.
In Quenya, it would be called an ëala-anamo ( “spirit of doom”). These spirits, no doubt the manifestations of the tortured souls of elves slain in battle, haunt ancient battlegrounds and are said to appear to elves and wizards, and other “higher” races in times of peril or danger.
Their outward appearance is haggard and frightening, and they are still garbed in their battle armour. Their continued torment inbetween the realm of the living and the dead cause them to contort their faces, and writhe as if in pain.
Although the armour and cloaks that they wear appear to be solid, their actual bodies have a wraithlike appearance, that is they appear to have no solid subtsance to them, but rather a feathery, wisp-like quality that constantly quivers.

So do they quiver like jello? It sounds like this will be a very fine creation< I am looking forward to it. Ethereal beings can be the most beautiful of all.

#28

Woohoo, this sounds promissing, I can imagine quite a few things already from the description.
I can’t wait!

#29

You’d better not leave it half finished this time Leigh

Where’s that concept/sketch eh?

#30

sounds a cool concept, now for the substance

#31

The concept sketches will only be up when I can go to my parents place and scan them

Okay, here is the armour so far:

#32

Brilliant! Great start Leigh. :buttrock: :buttrock:

#33

Leave it to Leigh to raise the bar for all of us with her first WIP :stuck_out_tongue:

Great stuff

#34

Great start

#35

Awesome start. Looking at your work I think I’d better start modelling my creature.

I love your concept too. You’re going to have fun texturing her body… Don’t you?

I don’t understand why mods can’t participate in the challenges…

So you must be modeling without templates…awesome!!

#37

Chad-D, Dirk_P_Ho and Kurt B - thanks for the support

Faraguay - yeah, this one is going to be awesome to texture! I’ve never done a ghostly creature before
And as for participating, well, of course we are free to participate as much as we want, but we just aren’t elible to win prizes

skello - yup! It is a challenge, after all! Actually, I usually always model without templates, I find templates distracting!

Anyhoo, small update:

#38

Hmmm, a creature with an elven influence. GEE THATS ORIGNAL lol.

Doesn’t at all sound like anything i’m working on. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nothing at all.

lol

Coming along nicely!!!

#39

Work… FASTER

Good stuff Leigh. I’m keeping out of this one, I’m sticking to my robot lady for now

One more update before I go to bed (it’s now 8:37am! Sleep is needed now…)

The leather straps holding the knife are temporary for now, I will come up with a more interesting scabbard design once I’ve had some sleep
