Races of Middle Earth - character - Leigh

absolutly great texturing Leigh :buttrock:

… maybe the white areas should not be
that pronounced and at that amount imho…
but it’s great… also why bother with desaturating in LW…
yes the PS tweak looks better but just do it in
Photoshop - everyones doing that

… you should put some more time in modeling but ok
i know how’s when you rush into what you likes the most:)
I’m interested to see texturing the other parts…

Thanks for all the comments/ crits/ suggestions everyone!!

Sorry there hasn’t been an update in a while, but I’ve been busy writing…
Now it’s back to this for a few days!

To address some questions/comments:

  • the grey bits are the unrusted metallic bits. They need work, I know :stuck_out_tongue: Hehehe
  • the maps are all handpainted
  • it’s been desaturated now - should I destaturate even more?
  • I added some slight changes in the areas around the little rungs.

Here is a teeny weeny update, to show where I am:

–> I have started on the belts and buckles and stuff. Need to finish those off. Also need to adjust the belt models slightly, as they aren’t fitting him too well.

–> After that, I will get back to the cloth, and then the skin.

–> I still need to finish the helmet.

–> I am going to adjust the unrusted bits on the torso to be less silvery.

still looking good, good luck with the writing!

The strapping is looking good and that armor was amazing the first time you posted it, tis very very good now. It feels more like metal then leather to me…such beautiful details…keep it up!!! I’m curious to see how you’ll pull off the ghostly figure inside that armor… :wip: :wip:
thanks again for your amazing texture crits!! wish i could return the favor, maybe i’ll study your image hard to try and find some problems :)…

very nice. i would probably push for a more oxidized look(some more green), but the gash on the shoulder is a nice touch. I’d love to see more tears like that.
p.s. i don’t think i own a high horse, but i can check…nope.

#372

Wow. Your Texturing skills are awesome.

#373

actually, even an ordinary silver never becomes rusty, not even talking about the mythril
but it looks cool

#374

ooh! great texturing, can’t wait to see skin texture~:buttrock:

What a chaotic week it has been :surprised

Thanks for the comments, people

And here is a teeny update. Will continue, and hopefully post another update tonight…

This is the sort of direction I’m going in for the cloth. Old, mouldy, a bit iffy. I think I actually need to shred it up more…

#377

amazing as always!

#378

:buttrock: that fits excellently! I’m waiting for detailled shredding, that’ll look great!keep it up!

#379

#382

AMAZING!!!:buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

#383

Looking good… I hope when you say you are getting to the shredding that you really mean shedding…not just tattering. Don’t be afraid to show some of that leg…armor.

Surely huge chunks of a garment would have been ripped or cut off over the thousands (?) of years this dude has been undead.

ps. update your cgchallenge.com entry

I like the direction you’re going. Your textures are really coming together.
