what, is the story only for the few and the proud?’

edit:

i dont mean to start an argument by this either, i just feel that because i began reading the novels after the fellowship was was released in theatres, that im somehow not a true fan or something in which older fans, fans that predate the movies

(including the animated one, which how many can say they have and or watched [ i only say this because from what the people ive talked to they havent watched it so ive lent it to them]) stand apoun from the rest of the fans, that only started falling in love with this story after it was brought to film.

I love leighs work, i love the books, and the movies, and my friend has some other books ive only had the fortune of catching glimpses of. i dont see why you have to be angry.

is it because people may not have been fortunate enough to have heard of these books growing up like myself?
had i known about these i would have no dout read them.

PS. if this causes an argument, that was not my intention. [/B]

You’ve forced me (in a great way) to realise its not that you became a fan after seeing the movies that would bug me, but that someone who’s interest came from the movies and never went very deap to trying to understand the story and the depth it has.

Looking awesome as always, as far as the people out therei have loved the LOTR series for many years, however i think its dumb to get mad over new fans… i mean it rallys more support for things liek this so encourage it… dont get pissed over ti thats just dumb.

#406

LotR has a great many fans, old and new. There’s room for all of them.

:wavey:Leigh-
Elfy looks darker and better, since you dirtied him up a bit. I thought you were gonna wraithify him? Perhaps this wraith lost his magic ring. (Or did bigfoot steal it?:p)

Edit:
By the way - the spear sounds like the right weapon for him.

Really nice work on the armor textures… But I gather from the blurb under your name that texturing is your forte!

Are you going to texture the skin as well?

#410

I’m looking forward to see the skin textures…
it’s already looking very awsome :buttrock:

#411

I love the integration tests…make clear how muche the model is “lotr” like!.U rox a lot this time…but reeeally a lot!
Hei…a friend of mine fall in love 4 u!! And ask me how to find more photos of the texturing goddes!!! U are a star baby!

#412

Righto, thanks for all the comments, and that rather odd, yet interesting discussion about LOTR :stuck_out_tongue:

OZ - LOL!!!

Okay, I have started making a “ghostly” skin…
Also added a spear

Comments, crits, suggestions and debates welcome!

#413

Don’t want to be an pain in the a**, but the ghostly skin you’ve got now doesn’t look much different than before. An close up would be really apriciated :stuck_out_tongue:

#414

The skin is now transparent and cloudy, whereas before it was just a flat colour
It takes ages to render, so I won’t post a new one just yet.

HOWEVER,

I am considering possibly texturing the skin to look like that of a dead body that has been in water - like the skin of the girl in The Ring.

Umm… this might sound a bit gross, but does anyone know where I could find pictures of drowning victims, or dead skin that has been bloated from water? (and DON’T say rotten.com)

Any help is appreciated!

#415

Not sure you’ll find the exact thing you’re searching for in this one, but it can help finding something approaching.

Very disgusting pictures of real diseases, that could help your budy skin texturing :

To look carefuly…

leigh i can take some screen captions of The Ring if that would help, just PM me if you do and i’ll get right on it

i know it wont be the best reference, but you did mention it and thought it may help somewhat

#417

Leigh, I spotted this link the other day.
Ick! It has pictures of stars posing as dead bodies in films - maybe you’ll find what you’re looking for…www.cinemorgue.com

Leigh, nice work as usual. Model and textures are super! However, the pose looks very unnatural. Kind of like a mannequin pose. And I think it’s making your hard work on the details suffer. I mean, all that texturing to make it look real, but the pose just screams, “look at me I’m a 3D model” (or an action figure). I hope you can do something with that pose in the next couple of days.

#419

Right!
and I’d like to see the ghost render you made pages and pages before combined with the normal render of the wraith

#420

Wow. Textures are looking really nice Leigh :buttrock:

#421

Wow Leigh! You ARE the TG! I know that YOU need encouragement like the Pope needs faith, but…wow!

If you aren’t married, I’m buying the ring now!
(Only kidding, I truly mean no offense…I ain’t worthy anyway…)

You have a major fan of your amazing skills in me!(yes, THAT and $2US WILL get you on the bus.)

I look forward to ALL of your works.

#422

Great composition Leigh. And excellent texturing of course.

I like your idea about the skin being like the girl from The Ring. That’s exactly how I pictured it.
