Looking your sketches I’m understanding yuor critique about the pos of my character in effect you are searching a dynamic pose in yuor work really different from mine.

Hi Frinsklen I like it. Nice work on the skin you’ve added some nice contrasts in there and some nice details in the change of colour. but where is the background!:bounce: C’mon man there’s gotta be a setting you’re thinking of!

I think you should now work in a cleaner update. So, clean the contorn lines and define better the colors.
You could make a background… why not… by I think you will learn more if you try to finish just the character with the highest quality as you can.

I don’t understand exactly what you guys mean by “black lines” but since I’ve used a pencil drawing as reference (see first page) I guess you mean the lines of the pencil layer that are still there.
So I tried to remove them:

and as you can see, it sucks.
This is my first digital painting, so any help with this would be great.
oh, I forgot to say that I’m color-blind, so if you see any weird colors or anything that doesn’t make sense, please tell me! :rolleyes:

Hey frinsklen! Nice character and lovely pose…Here’s my crits (first digital drawing? good job if thats the case!)
First of all your colors are too desaturated, kinda blends in to one another, try to push the contrast it will do you good, second of all try to be more dynamic with your lighting. You know that a 3d image with cheesy lighting makes it look incredebly flat, it’s the same in 2d you can’t cheat your way out of that
About the black lines, I think they mean that the character itself doesn’t have enough volume, if you add black outlines (inked) then it will look cartoony but if you go with darker and lighter skincolor outlines you will get a more realistic look, the choice is up to you but I suggest that you always keep your reference sketch in it’s own layer and work down the opacity for that layer. (As you color you turn the opacity more and more down till the layer is completely gone)
Also the hair could use a little bit more detail.
Well hope I have been to some assistance.

I know that you are finished with it and everything but I did a really fast paintover to illustrate some of my earlier comments.
I added a bolder outline and played with contrast lighting a bit, I’m not sure it’s better but it’s another approach of it at least
