Races of Middle Earth - character - Fasty

#1

Ever wonder what would happen if the race of Kender were introduced into Middle Earth? Let’s find out…

I wonder if it would be like introducing rabbits into Australia?

Probablility of finishing this challenge: 2.3%

If anyone knows who is responsible for this picture can you let me know? I’ve scoured the web and can’t find the artist.

Ok this is a sad update but it’s a start.

For those that don’t know, kender are from the Dragonlance world and are thought upon as vermin to most of the civilised world. Really though, they are just innocent and curious, eager to travel and cause mischief wherever they go! Not to mention they have a habit of obtaining articles of value (or not!) that “just happen” to fall into their pouches!
This kender is the famous Tasslehoff Burrfoot who one day finds a shiny gold ring has somehow ended up in his pouch

hehe actually doing fantasy themes in anime isn’t a new idea, there’s a really cool series called Record of Lodoss War, and Legend of Lodoss War I think, and they did it really well
Just do a google.com search for Lodoss War and you’ll find heaps of cool pictures from it

I love anime, and that picture is cool, so it’d be great if you went with that style. I think you chose a good concept for this one.

And yea, Record of Lodoss War is basically THE fantasy anime, meaning I don’t think anything will be able to top it.

Another small update…

EDIT: Image updated, just to prove I’m actually working on it.

#7

I’ve hit a small hurdle, I thought the back of his head would be the easiest part, but I’ve done it and redone it many times now just trying to get the cleanest possible result. I also have to allow for the ponytail to be attatched.

#8

ok now I’ve got myself some spare time I can recommit myself to this challenge! just plodding away, adding clothing etc.

#9

just a test to see if I can do thumbnails…

EDIT: Just working on my characters hand at the moment. Still need to finish the thumb and index finger, and mess around with the overall shape some more.

#10

Well I haven’t had much time lately but here’s an update showing a temporary version of his sleeves. I’m not looking forward to his pants… I’m trying to hold off as long as possible!

#11

Here’s an early attempt at pants. I doubt I’ll finish this but I’m going to keep trying.

#12

Yeah, keep on Fasty - you’ve got the name for it;)
I like it - it’s cartoony fun.:buttrock:

Hey, I laughed at the line you said earlier: ‘Probability of finishing this, about 2.3%’ (That goes for the both of us)

#13

Hey Grub, thanks for the support! For some reason I seem to have trouble getting any feedback.
I think I need to work on his proportions a bit, but at the moment I’m just concentrating on finishing all his bits… shoes next I suppose.

#14

Here’s the final image. Unfortunately I didn’t get to finish it but I’m posting it anyway.

#15

Nice character you got there Fasty. Original concept in a LOTR context. Would love to see that guy in a similar enviroment.
